What has been Coach Smiths gravest error with Easts?

Crapiola mate nothing wrong with critisism we might be 4 and 3 I am not impressed with any of the wins and appauled and the heavy losses. I am not saying sack Smith but I am def not happy with what I have seen. We look poorly prepared and unfit, we are trying to play a brand of footy that we are not ready for. The team should be fit and focusing on discipline they should be playing a defensive style game and working up from there. You need to start with the core just like Bennett does, we are trying to skip a couple of steps and that doesnt work.
I am also shocked that we still have not taken any steps towards fixing the backline problem, Smith should have identified this before coming to Easts and bought a hand full of gun backs from the NYC back then so we had options this yr.

SC - I agree with everything you have said there, particularly the bolded bit. And I know quite a lot of fellow Chooks fans who share the same views.

It's the first time I can ever remember, that a lot of diehard Roosters fans, are actually "applauding" the thrashings such as last week and the one by Melbourne...

Normally, even in the dark days of the late 80s/early 90s, none of us wanted to see our club thrashed.

Whilst none of us ever "really" enjoy seeing the club beaten, let alone trounced, it must be said that there are a lot of lessons the fans think SHOULD have been learnt by the club long ago, which seemingly have not been learnt.

One such lesson is your point about the backline problems you identify SC.... not to mention the 5/8th problem that Smith has spectacularly blundered in his three years here... not to mention the halfback problem (ie. a former potential superstar of the game having his development absolutely stiffled under the current coaching staff)...

Roosters fans out there are starting to wonder if yet another disastrous season, which 2012 is shaping to be, will be the price we have to pay to wake the Board up and get some decent management running the joint........................ at the highest levels in those Moore Park offices in fact...

Any suggestions from you or any other coaching experts on here how we can be awarded more penalties? That's a separate issue from what you have raised. Consistently over the last 5 years, we have received less penalties than any other team. That has just as much of an effect on the outcome of the game as penalties we concede. Penalties conceded can (although I don't believe they purely are) be explained by our "poor discipline".

I really want to know what happens to other teams that, over the course of 130 games or so, each and every one of them improves their discipline, week after week, team after team (no matter how badly they may have been penalized the week before playing us and for the rest of the year for that matter), so that we receive 2 or 3 penalties over 80 minutes.

Please, I implore the frustrated would be coaches, managers and CEOs out there on this forum, just what can we do to improve this damaging statistic? Take your time, I have all the time and patience in the world for your solutions....

I don't reckon anyone on here is claiming to be an expert.
