  • Future looking good after tonights match

How good was it to see so many Roosters players in the Toyota Cup State of Origin tonight. Would I be right in saying we had the highest representation of any of the 16 clubs? Evans played strongly, as did Cordner. Moga did well with the little ball he got. Napa did well also but didn't see much of Tago except him coming to the aid of his Roosters team mate Cordner when he went down with cramp. The futures looking bright. I just hope we can keep most of these young guys coming through.

I said it in another thread, but I would go as far to say Peter O'Sullivan is our best signing since Fittler. In all my years of supporting the Roosters, I can't remember a time when we have had this many talented youngsters coming through consistently.

      Cordner had a shocker.

I was just at the game with his uncle and a few of his relatives and we were all in agreement that he didn't show up, especially seeing as he was captain.

Hope he puts in a bigger effort for us on wednesday but right now I don't think he is a first grade player.

With all due respect 2034 - you're either a troll stirring up shite or you're off your head!
From my armchair view Cordner tackled superbly ALL GAME and with plenty of bite. In fact, the commentators credited Boyd for NSW winning, for his 79th minute covering tackle on the QLD 5/8 who lost possession so close to the try-line. Maybe you missed that from where you were sitting?
Whilst he may not be setting the world on fire in 1st grade yet, he's coming along nicely under Fitzy's tutelage and will be an asset to our club for years to come.

Congratulations to all the Rooster boys that played last night .... you did us proud.
Well done Boyd on captaining the NSW side, our club has a great future if they can keep these boys signed up to the Roosters.
A player that impressed me was Kane Evans.
          Pauline Robinson from the "Wall".

Is Napa signed past this year?

            If not, he should be.

            The future?

What, like Moga scoring a try and officialdom denying it?

All the boys played well, and how could you not see that big tackle tago put on evan.
Tago was #8, and his work rate on defense was awesome considered he just back playing after both ankles injuries from the 1st game of the season.

Cordner was instrumental. A great captain's knock.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Mate you expect someone of Boyd's talent to make those tackles. What worries me is that his game doesn't seem to have another level unlike guys like Evans and McKinnon. Watching him closely off the ball he appeared quite pedestrian at times and even missed a few blokes he should be towelling up.

I worry because he has had injuries and yet even with a full off season behind him he still hasn't fulfilled his potential. He should have dominated last night instead of just playing a solid lock. I'm yet to see him make a line or tackle break this year

they were all very strong. what was also good and bad in another sense was the amount of ex-roosters running around in both sides. Cummins, Stockwell, Blair and miller all played in our junior rep programs to varying levels (blair and miller to 20s; stockwell and cummins matts/sg ball) and all played very well also. Having also watched the entire australian frontrow boast roosters juniors as well on friday night its been quite a bitter sweet weekend.

the silver lining i guess is that guys like evans, napa, RTS, moga, kennedy, JWH, tasi, masoe, cordner, leilua i would take ahead of those guys at least as prospects.

on a side note, does anyone know where i can find the individual player stats from last nights game?

I played with Stocky and he used to run with Picton and St Gregs before the Dragons snapped him up. Pretty sure he never played for the Roosters; I could be wrong though.

Do you micro analize each players game like that? At least then you'd have a bit of perspective.

Cordner had a strong game last night, if you cant see that your beyond clueless.

Kane "Spud Jnr." Evans scored a great try and looks like he has got much fitter and stronger than last year. He must be signed to a long term deal, otherwise he will be another that got away.
