Based off relative scaling of the current personnel in the comp, he is the closest you will get to Cronk given Coops has retired. Is he as good as him? Absolutely not. Not many are. But off what is available on the market and who is running around currently, he is in the Top 3 halves in the comp.
He brings leadership, determination, game management and a long kicking game. Things we are sorely lacking. Sam Walker could learn from him and should be apart of our plans. Given he was dropped for Joey Manu to play 6, I think sending him to 14 for Ben Hunt makes more sense than what was done earlier in the year.
Would you take a premiership in 2024 if it meant losing Sam Walker? I would as they don't come around too often.
As I said before he's no Cronk so stop pretending that he is going to have a Cronk-like impacxt on our team.

Never said it would guarantee a premiership. It is a hypothetical question in which the best possible outcome would occur for the risk of signing a 34 year old and losing a 20 year old prodigy. With all the variables, would the best possible outcome outweigh the prospect of losing Walker? (which itself is a bad outcome.) It's also worth noting we aren't far off losing Walker anyway given the man management he's experienced this season.
Hunt would have his own impact on the team and it would be a positive impact, not comparing to Cronk as I said previously. I am comparing him against other current halves in the comp.

For what it's worth though, would I take a premiership if it meant losing Walker?? That depends on the circumstances in which we have lost him. If it's because we have just signed Nathan Cleary then yes I would. If it's to sign some over rated 34yo on a hail mary contract then no. I would rather long term success then a quick sugar hit

Ben Hunt will not deliver us a premiership, his record with the Dragons has been diabolical with the only good season being when his contract was up for renewal. I don't see any value in him coming to the club at all

Respect your stance though and I see the importance of retaining Sam Walker, who if he can develop to his potential, could end up winning numerous premierships in the RWB.
