A lot of ‘smaller’ forwards on that bench… 2022 run here we come?

Robbo has a weird relationship with backrower - since the great Cords. Personally, I’d want him to pick me and stick if I were them but he seems to have view they need middle time which I’m not sure helps or hinders. Lots of criticism of Robbo on here but he’s use of edge forwards the last 3-4yrs has been unusual

I suspect the reason is cause his defence is still a little patchy. One might look at the tackle efficiency of 94% and say this guy is great, but over the last 6 rounds he's averaged around 4 missed tackles a game, and was defensively suspect in the trial games. That said, Egan lacks the attacking proficiency of Wong. In his last 6 games hes averaged around 2.5-3 offloads a game, and 200+ running metres in 4 of those, including 18 tackle busts across the last 6 games. Oh and just found out he's played centre before, I believe in Flegg

I would like to see him get a couple of games this year for experience but he's only just starting to dominate NSW Cup after struggling physically early on in the season. I would like to see him go back to an edge and work on his game there, I don't think we need more middles in first grade currently.

Who would you be dropping for him?

Cordner switched between lock forward and second row a lot in his first season under Robbo, from memory he played more lock than 2nd row. It's not something new to his coaching methods, seems to be that he wants them to get good at taking tight carries and getting used to high defensive workload before giving them chances on the edges where it is easy to drift out of games if you don't go looking for it. The best thing about SBW and Cordner was their balance between line running/ball playing on the edges but also coming into the middle to help out in yardage sets and take some tough carries in tight, I think it's an education piece more than anything.

Has worked really well for both Whyte and Wong in reserve grade, Whyte who had really struggled for a season and a half to develop on an edge then was moved into lock late last year and Wong who was also struggling on an edge earlier this year and now seems to be more physically confident in himself at lock having rund for over 200m in his last 3 games.

It would be really interesting to hear from Robbo why he does it from a development stand point but it has proven to work. I think the bigger issue over the last few years has been that those given the opportunity just haven't taken it with the exception of Crichton at the back end of last year we haven't had a top tier 2nd row performer since Cordner retired.

And throw Watson into that mix and Robbo has some real headaches!

That's a spine that I'm looking forward to see in action. Manu in the centres. Would've liked to have seen Lodge in there and re-signed over Lenui. No doubt his enthusiasm was gone after being told he was not required next years. But he has gone, so next player up. I'll be able to attend my first game in what seems ages, and I sense a win!

It’s going to be a tough game.
I hope the Chooks are up for it.

I expect Radley and the ugliest man in rugby league, Horsburgh, to spend time in the bin. Radley will probably also be cited and spend more time on the sideline.

Klein is the ref, so we'll probably cop a hiding.

                      Canberra by 30.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I’ve been saying for years Nat Butcher should be a middle. He excelled last week. He reminds me of Guerra crosses with Cordner. I also recall another Roosters player named Nat, around 98, 99, what was his last name?

No idea if it will be this weekend but at some point Robbo is going to have to get Teddy a rest he looks like a tired burnt out footballer in desperate need of a break to recharge the batteries.

We’ve got Manu who is killing it at FB so we can give Teddy a rest no problem.
