I think if we had anyone but Sam Walker, we'd go for it.
Maybe if Keary is wanting to retire at the end of the year. If that were the case, I'd absolutely go for him.
There have been some interesting discussions about this. The theory is that as halfbacks get older, they rely less on their slowing individual ability, and more on their experience as team organiser.
Pretty comprehensively no for a number of reasons.
1) We dont have space for another million dollar contract
2) He's looking to return home to Qld
3) I don't think he's that much better than Sam Walker especially when you factor in that Walker will only get better over the next few years and at 34 Hunt is likely to deteriorate.
4) I'm not a fan of how disruptive he has been at the Dragons, he would've had a big say in getting his former under 20s and head coach Griffin to the club along with getting McCullough to the club over Mcinness (lol) and then rather than taking some accountability he's thrown the toys out of the cot demanding a release.
I don't think Hunt will go anywhere except to a Qld team. He has openly stated he wants to go home.
To answer the question, he is a very good footballer with a lot of the tactical kicking, leadership and game management skills we currently lack. As a short-term solution, to mentor Walker & Sandon Smith, he would be great. If it meant losing one of those to get him, then the short term gain would not be worth it in my opinion. If Kez has told management he wants to quit at the end of this year, then it would be smart to pick up Hunt for 2 seasons. Otherwise, no. I'd rather play the long game with the young halves we have and foster a potential decade of success, rather than 2 years with Hunt.

1) We make the space. It's been done many times before.
2) QLD can wait if it means potentially winning a premiership. This is the only thing he hasn't achieved.
3) Hunt is the superior game manager, organiser. He can also kick twice the distance. He offers the ability to play 9 if required. His experience is priceless!
4) He's given a club that is a basket case and that continues to make poor decisions( Signing Flanno) 100% effort. Without Hunt they'd have a collection of spoons imo.

1) I would not be willing to lose Tedesco, Manu or Keary for him.
2) I don't think Dragons grant a release unless its to Qld as he has applied on compassionate grounds so not going to happen.
3) He's definitely not an organiser, Dragons have been a rabble. He's a great ball runner, good kicking game and has very good creative numbers but struggles with the organisational duties. Much more natural at 6 or dummy half as you alluded to later.
4) Not questioning his effort on the field, he has been brilliant but its his actions off it that are of concern. He pushed for a below average coach to be appointed, then when below average coach peformed to his below average levels he threw a tantrum because the club moved him on.
I'd like to see him at the Roosters and I'd move Keary on to get him. He could come in as a mentor to Smith and Walker, play a season or two at 7 like Cronk did with Walker at 6 and Smith at 14. I have the same view as Bates, Hunt probably wants to win a premiership and the only club that realistically could over the next 2 years that need a halfback is us.
1. Tedesco 6. Walker 7. Hunt 9. Smith is a premiership winning spine in my opinion.
