    Lol

Yes I can see the spin now… Robbo explaining to everyone why Drew is worthy of a place on the Blues bench… he can play all across the park… great player (Robbo’s exact words)

No disrespect to Drew… he does his best… but he simply doesn’t have an NRL career without Robbo, i.e., he would not get a game anywhere else

Yet if Robbo coaches here for another 5-10 years… we’ll all be celebrating 300 games of Drew as a Rooster… f*ck me lol

We need to move on from this weirdo in charge… these are wasted years for the club right now

Look… Robbo has done very well but all good things come to an end… the way he talks these days, the odd ball selections and strange loyalties, and the utter inept performance of a loaded squad suggest he is nowhere near as good as some think

Yes he went to back to back… God bless him… that was fantastic… but the fact is he’s had a stacked roster for 10 years… he’s made three GFs… just like Ricky did in 3 years… and Robbo easily could have lost a couple of them as well… even old Brian miraculously had us in a GF just a couple of years before… Robbo didn’t climb Everest here

People here bag Des… the guy has made 5 GFs… yet in the same breath suggest there can’t be anyone better than Robbo… I respect the 3 titles… particularly the one against the Storm… but outside of them there has always been an undercurrent of doing less with more with Robbo… and this year is the perfect storm… simply no one has been worse

Send him to the Blues… he’ll enjoy all the free time

Des says “Um…er….” in his pressers more often than Robbo. I couldn’t handle that.

That's harsh....he isn't a f-wit. I'd say you're basing that off some of the things he has said as a under pressure coach. I've never heard of player unrest- plus Ponga could have left to be coached by Wayne Bennett for the same coin he was getting at the Knights but he elected to stay.....that says something.

You are right that Nick wont have him back-he left early after giving assurances he would see out his contract.

Lol fair enough… but the average rugby league player can relate

Des wouldn’t be the best fit in Bondi but he’s custom made for the GC… I fancy his chances of making another GF before Robbo as things stand… which is a disgrace when you think about it

I may have mentioned this before but Des comes with his own coaching and recruitment staff. He wants control over the salary cap - in short it's his show.

What he does in a big way is back end contracts- it gave him some success in the first couple of years at the Dogs then by the time they booted him the clubs salary cap was screwed for 5 years. He then went back to Manly and made the semis in 2019, 13th in 2020, semis 2021 and 11th in 2022. Like the Dogs, Manly sacked him and both clubs were prepared to pay him out millions to see the back of him.

He will try to do the same at the Titans with back ending recruitment contracts- but he doesn't have the pulling power as a coach to attract elite players anymore.

Now if you think he was in any way a fit for the Roosters then what can i say? Ill be polite, it could never happen under Nicks watch

Geez mate you’re not just obnoxious… you’re also not very sharp

Where did I say Des would be a good fit for the Roosters? I actually said the opposite… doesn’t mean he hasn’t made 5 GFs

Spin your salary cap nonsense elsewhere… 5 GFs is 5 GFs… no one else has done it… and plenty of clubs would gladly do so

Agree but thought West's were insane for not giving a shout out to Des or Flanno.

Sheen's and Benji aren't their answer.

Sure not us but Robbo has to learn from this season and reckon his earned next season.
If it goes tits up well it's a results based sport....

I like his no-nonsense honest approach to stuff... his coaching remains to be desired however given the lack of progress at Newcastle

I’m happy to see how Friend and Cordner develop as assistants and learn under Robbo. At the very least they’re true roosters legends and would want to continue at the roosters and not go coach at other clubs any time soon. Despite my/ our dissatisfaction at how this season has panned out and the confusing selections, I don’t want Robbo gone yet, I feel he has a lot to offer the club in general and will leave a everlasting legacy at the roosters.

if robbo was run over by a bus (driven by an over-zealous chookpen critic) i'd be happy with bellamy, hasler, bennett or some talented new bloke as a replacement. whether we could get bellamy or bennett or even hasler now that he's signed with the titans until the end of 2026 is extremely doubtful and a talented new bloke would be gamble. i want robbo to stay for the term of his contract at least. his record makes him deserving of respect (which he hasn't always been given on these pages) but it shouldn't guarantee him life tenure. if we finish this season poorly and play similarly poorly next year then there should be a review and if it's clear that he's the problem with no prospects of turning things around then he should go but that's a long way off.

you don't know what you've lost til it's gone not to mention that robbo's love of the roosters is not something other coaches will have

Fair enough but playing devils advocate for a minute...

Someone with no Roosters history might have done the following....

Drop Victor for a few games and tell him to pull his head in.
Take the captaincy away from Teddy and give it to JWH.
Either send Suhalli to Norths or stick him back on the wing.

Those are the obvious ones and then what to do about Lodge, Angus and the Cheese.

Looking at all that and should we be surprised that it's all a bit of a sh*t show at the moment. My hope is that everything is resolved before next season and we can go again and make some of the critics and blowhards eat humble pie. That would be the Roosters way!
