We get it. You’re a smart cookie. But this isn’t book club mun. No need for War and Peace or debating the merits of a laissez-faire economy. We talk about a bunch smelly blokes who repetitively whack each other in the head and throw around a leather ball. Leave your far-right politics at the door.

To answer your question about the WM3. Quite an interesting case though I haven’t kept up on news over the years since they were freed many years ago.
Read up on all the literature and watch the docos. You’re a bright fella (no sarcasm i swear) and I’m sure you’ll agree those guys were wronged no matter what your politics.
They accepted a guilty plea to get out of jail… the sentence was the 20 years they’d already served… they’ve all confessed to it… multiple times… both before… during… and after the trial where they were convicted by a jury of their peers

Only a depraved c^nt would shill for them

Don’t get me wrong I get the criticism of the coach we haven’t performed and we play for comps however does anyone still think he lost the dressing room after yesterday? Key sign is attitude and that was phenomenal yesterday

Or did the team play better because Lodge is now gone?

Is there a source for that or are you just speculating?

I was told by my source. They desperately want him out but at the same time dont want to make it easy for his manager

Hate to break it to you, but we were beaten by a very mediocre Manly team who only had one decent player. Robbo will never lose the dressing room. It's one of the reasons we have been going so average the last few years. When was the last time Robbo dropped a senior player? Regardless of how poor their form or the length of their slump. Regardless of how stupid their actions may be on the field, or how many times they repeat the same stupid behavior over and over (even in sudden death). It's the less senior players that get shafted. The ones without a voice in the dressing room.

Denzel Washington nailed it with this.

There was an actor back in the early days of Hollywood named Raymond Massey who played Abraham Lincoln so many times he started to act like him. I think Denzel is now acting like Malcolm X.

                      • No one is perfect. Robinson has achieved great results at the chooks, how much of that is down to him personally or the squad he had is debatable, obviously both played a part.
Our squad probably peaked in 2019, and since then we have lost a huge amount of on field talent, Cronk, Cordner, Friend,TKO, Aubs, Mitchell , the Morris twins, Verrills, Liu, Tetevano.
That's some pretty good cattle right there. almost all of them are better than we have on the field right now.
Plus we lost some off field talent in coach Fitzy.
Plus the rest of the squad have aged 4 years and none are playing better now that they were in 2019 with the possible exception of Collins.
We still have stars who would make any other first grade team, Teddy, Toops, Manu, Keary, Radley, JWH, Smith, Collins, but 4 of them are past their best.
The loss of a top quality 14 in Aubs has hurt us badly.
So Robinson might be a good coach, maybe in the top half of current coaches, they all need cattle.
But it's been 11 years now, and sometimes the message gets old, especially when it doesn't get results.
Something has to change, the coach has to learn from his mistakes, and adapt.
He has to find a way to get the message through, if he has one.
His job is to produce a winning team, anything less than top 6 is a failure.
We have fallen off the pace, we need to make some hard decisions about players like Toops, Suaalii, Billy Smith, Keary, Radley, The Butcher boys, HUTCHISON, JWH, Angus, Watson.
The coach needs to have a hard look at himself, and his staff, and the board needs to set some standards which must be achieved,
I think everyone should be on notice.

                        • I don’t think he’s lost the dressing room but he appears clueless. He just doesn’t seem to know what common sense is and persists with an unworkable formula out of pure stubbornness not because it has ever worked. And everything that has worked in the past he’s tossed out the window. Is he having mental issues? Who knows, but his coaching is well below professional standards and Nick should not allow it to continue indefinitely. How is it we bought cheese and we are far worse? It’s not just bad luck or the refs it’s very bad management. We have a GF team coming 13th. Heads should roll.

The coach is just an easy target. The Robbo detractors love to give him no (or little) credit for our premierships - "Our team was stacked, Robbo got lucky" - and give him all the blame for our rough patch - "it all boils down to one man".

Last game showed he clearly still has the dressing room.

The problems are largely, in my opinion:

                            - team disharmony. Certain players with attitude problems. This is the big one, as without harmony you aint getting close to a premiership. A couple are already being moved on, any others either will be or will have straighted themeselves out and grown up

                            - aging players in key positions. Teddy and Keary are still great players, but clearly not at performance levels from yesteryear. It is possibly Keary has an unrecoverable anxiety about running at the line due to head injury. I dont blame him, we only get one brain and the CTE stories probably scare the shit out him. Might be time to hang up the boots.

                            - Crichton's issues. I am not blaming him, it's a shame it happened and I hope he gets better as soon as possible. But he is a leadership figure in the playing group, and so it would have had an impact.

                            - Radley - directly cost us 1 or 2 matches through reckless behaviour, and put us on the back foot in others. Hoping he'll pull his head in and improve. I'm sure certain players in the playing group hold (or hopefully, held in the past) some resentment about his brain snaps.

I completely agree with your points that are the problem areas in the team. I am somewhat of a Robbo detractor in that I am very critical of what I think are antiquated tactics and bizarre selections at times. That being said, I never for once have thought he has lost the dressing room. I think every player in that club knows that they would be moved on in a heartbeat ahead of the coach, which is not the case at most clubs.

In terms of team disharmony, who are the individuals you think are creating this issue? Do you think its an attitude/off-field sort of thing or do you think its an inability to stick to a game plan/on-field cohesion issue with too many big personalities?

In terms of the Teddy and Keary argument, 100% agree and Crichton is better off sitting out for the rest of the season and questioning his future going forward. Mental health issues are no joke and he has been playing like someone distracted and not fully with it sad to say.

                              • I honestly think Teddy is just showing the signs of what a strain the leadership has been over the last few seasons. I think he's tired, mentally and physically but I doubt he would admit it. There are not many players who have played to his level of consistency for 5 straight seasons where he has hardly missed a game. Slater was a great player and had terrific longevity, but he also had a couple of periods where he missed significant time with injury. Neither did Slater have to almost single handedly put a team on his back like Teddy had to due to our injures in 2021. If we miss the finals it will be terribly disappointing but the plus side will be that players like Teddy and Joey (who was also down on form and looked lethargic up until the last few weeks) will get their first decent break for a while
