With the team i have named i have always been an optimist, the guru lost me with his selections, now he has seen the light it's probably too late, but still possible. Last year i put $1,000 on us to make the 8 with 8 games to go, and we won all 8, not so confident this year.

I just did the exercise with the NRL ladder predictor.
Looks like we need to win 8 from 8 to make the 8.
Sportsbet is paying $8 for us to make the 8.
If we win 7 we miss out on for and against.
If we win 8 we finish 7th and play Brisbane in the elimination final.

I can't fit Sandon in.
I know it's possible because we did it last year,
but it's only for the true believers.
One loss from here and we are out.
We got royally reamed by the ref yesterday, and the other close losses look like they will cost us now.
I really loved the effort the boys put in yesterday.
But I blame the coach for some decisions which blew up in our faces through the season.
No one is perfect i guess, but it's a bloody shame it cost us so much.

If we had our full team and Cummins got abducted by aliens we'd be a chance of doing the above.

It's not happening , it's safe to draw a line through the chooks now for 2023.
I hope we can make the right moves moving forward around recruitment and retention.
This current setup is not going to take us forward , there will be some changes one would think.
A miracle finish would only gloss over a pathetic season.

Hes definitely lost his mojo this season. Love what he has done in previous seasons but I do fear this is more of concussions and age catching up with him than a temporary form slump.

As for winning 8 in a row I'd love to see that NSK but forget the 8/1 I will give you 100s

There will be no miracle this year, and even if one looks remotely like happening, you can be assured we will be assigned either Klein or Cummins to ensure we lose and one does not happen

We are not making the 8. There is being negative for no reason and then there is just being realistic. I think my comment goes into the latter category.

All we can hope for is some young guns getting game time and improving week to week (Whyte, Wong, May, Sandon, Sammy Walker, Egan Butcher) and pray that the comp isn't won by Souffs or the Riff. We will definitely win games towards the back end and be prepared for some happy but frustrating times, we will probably win a game by 30 odd playing champagne footy after we are mathematically ruled out of the finals. I can see us having a couple of good games here and there.

Next season we will better with our mask off and the aura dropped a little bit. Jerseys won't be handed out for granted and you'd suspect a few honest conversations are had in the off-season re: some senior players. Also look forward to Young and Leniu, they will help. Maybe an off-season bombshell aswell because our spine ain't it at the moment.
