  • Off Season Vibes

So its only early July and it already feels like the off season to me. Anyone else feel the same?

So here is the question. Where did it all go wrong? Did it start in the pre-season with guys messing with psychedelics? Is Robbo done as some are saying? Is it the foul influence of the Cheese, the fat little powder sniffing gabling addict who seems to enjoy KFC as much as Latrell Mitchell and can't live off of $800k pa? Was it Lodge? Other?

I wonder if a reason Walker was removed from firsts was to keep him away from lodge?

Perhaps. It seems that by Round One whatever shit was going on behind the scenes wasn't good.

If you've got that sort of behavior in you, it never goes away. The Kuta Kenjer will prove that next year.

We beat Souths and then destroyed Parra and I thought at the time we were going to be the team to beat, but we then played really poorly against the Storm and had the Sharks at our mercy but blew it through our ill discipline with and without the ball. We then axed Walker and things seemed to be balancing out again with a couple of wins in a row but then we really hit the wall. I think the dropping of Walker has obviously had an effect on the team and we persevered with certain players in positions for too long. eg Manu and Sua'li'i. Add to that the injuries to Toops, Cheese and co and it just showed that we no longer have the depth of a few years ago. Of course the coach has to wear some blame as well so there is a mixture of a whole lot of factors in there and no one single cause

I didn't mind Hutch so much until he was named in the centres. He was utterly hopeless.

                That sounds pretty accurate.

Its probably too soon to conduct a post mortem on the season in early July. If we play with the same intensity and focus as in the game at Brookvale we will certainly win more than we lose of the remaining games. Of course we need a fair go from referees which we didnt get last Sunday. I mainly want to use the rest of this season to develop some talent further going into 2024. Sandon Smith, Whyte, May, Wong. And any others that could emerge from the lower grades this year.

If that was the reason, the better alternative would have been to drop Lodge. He's never going to goal-kick us to victory or set up a try scoring movement with a Harbour Bridge pass or a deft chip kick over the top. Even if your idea had merit, Walker would hardly be adversely influenced by playing 50-80 minutes of football with Lodge when there's another 167 hours in the week they could get up to mischief.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

You honestly think that our players messed with psychedelics. If there was any substance to the rumour they wouldn’t be playing this year. The integrity committee would have been all over it like a rash. Especially if it involved the roosters

Posts like yours that perpetuate the myths give power to the f-wits who start these BS rumours

They are widely available so why not? I enjoy them myself. MDMA and cannabis are in that drug class. Mushrooms are legal in some places. What's hard to believe? Cheese is a cocaine sniffer right? We still signed that moron.

Pretty spot on. Melbourne exposed Hutcho at centre so that’s a loss I put down to poor coaching from Robbo. Rads also had a brain explosion but it was that selection that burnt us in that game. The Sharks game was disappointing but we could’ve arguably won if Collins was rightly awarded that try but I think the Sharks home ground advantage swayed the ref. Walkers dropping was a bed shit. Even after two wins with Manu @ 5/8 our attack was obviously weaker. Sammy should’ve been brought back ASAP. Arghh well, next year, maybe…

Hopefully in our remaining 8 games - we might put more than 30 on someone. Are we the only side not to put more than 30 points on the opposition this year.

The coach gets 0 out of 10 this year. Don't forget he enjoyed the game we lost to the bloody dragons.

A shocking season - and embarrassing.
