That's the EXACT reason why people are p*ssed off.

He DIDN'T admit it was a mistake. He said something along the lines of "it hurts that we lost and that's all my fault, but it was NOT a mistake, it was a good idea and made me look good."

    ---

He sounded like a d'ckhead pollie. Both Gillard and Abbott have a habit of saying:

"I'm sorry because I'm copping flack, but my actions were correct, and I did the absolute best thing I could have."

Noyce`s admission is testament to this...
Apparently it's more fun to chuck abuse

        This is the quote....

“We’ve received quite a numer of emails from fans and members suggesting I made the wrong decision there,” Noyce tells Rugby League Week.

“I have to accept responsibility for that.

“We are in a professional sport and we’re in the business of winning games and we were completely out-played.”

Asked if he would be admitting an error or arguing in favour of the fixture, Noyce said: “A bit of both.

“You saw the looks on the faces of the players and Smithy (coach Brian Smith) – they were shattered.

“You can bullshit your way through things but those are the facts.

“I don’t know if you just say it was a mistake. The NTRL were over the moon with things, they’ve had some trouble recently and we raised a lot of money with the Carbine Club function that Brad Fittler, Johnathan Thurston and myself spoke at.

“But I accept all that pales in comparison to the result.”

What I read was there was some upside (financial, community) but that upside can't justify the result and therefore, on balance, the call was wrong.

        Sounds spot on to me.

          In other words:
"IT WASN'T A MISTAKE!!! IT WAS GOOD MARKETING AND WE MADE MONEY.

That said, fans are sore that we lost... I also wish we won, but TOUGH LUCK!! THIS IS PROFESSIONAL SPORT AND YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT!!!"

I think the key word in the first sentence is "just". Definitely couched in corporate speak but that's the world we live in - Sport is corporate now.

You are becoming the roosters eiyan or blind freddy of this forum Arguing and debating just for the sake of it
No you are arguing and debating for the sake of it mate. I'm just defending my opinion on the matter which you don't like. Stop responding if you can't without useless comparisons to others. The fact you are taking such a line tells me maybe I have got in your head, I dig, many dont like that.

Everyone can whinge after the event. I call that hind site, that's my view of the matter, whether that be the correct definition of the meaning, I don't really give a shit. Whatever way you want to spin it whinging now is doing zero, especially since the CEO came out and manned up.

I have little time or respect for the I told you so crowd. It's so pointless and in all reality we can all play that game on occasions. It's not a comp for brownie points this sorta shit. I know some like beating off over being right, in hind site, of course.

Have fun being right again Mr Walker. In fact to adopt your line, you're becoming like that other bloke of similar name who crashed and burned.

              The FlogPen .

              You know it makes sense.

                Oh agreed Ticket...
It has been for some time and that's life.

Good for us as fans because the players can afford to have respectable careers where they basically train and play. Consequently they're a lot stronger and smarter than the players of old.

                ---

That said, Steve will continue to have us playing in Gosford, Christchurch and Darwin. As a fan this is a dumb corporate decision because:
                - We always lose (so no fans bother turning up... $$$)
                - It makes us less likely to make the 8 (no finals $$$)
                - It makes injuries more likely because we're over-straining + getting THUMPED ($$$ paid to have guys on the sideline.)
                - We have to pay $$$ to travel + arrange hotels...etc when it SHOULD be a home game. Think 40+ plane & hotel tickets.

Mate, you'll get no argument from me. My simple opinion is home games should be played at home.
