  • Arona

I think this guy is way out of his depth in first grade. While FPN is out injured, Bosden should be our lock and Arona should stay at Newtown permenantly. He offers the team nothing. He is small and his runs are completely ineffective. Gets pushed off a lot in defence as well. Surely we have a better option at lock.

From memory His runs per metre average have been high and possibly netted more than any other forward in the team Havent seen yesterdays stats yet

Arona is ok he is the type of player that needs someone running off him. he is always looking to pass the ball.

Bosden was very strong yesterday, made some nice runs and should be in 17 every week.

I dont think Arona is out of his depth in first grade, but he is definitely not a superstar. I think he is a solid player and it doesnt worry me too much seeing him in the 17. But i do have to say, with a fully fit squad, he would not be in the top 17 IMO

I actually think he was the most important forward on the park against the Dragons. His play the balls are so much quicker than any other forward in the team. He gets to his feet and plays it before the markers can get square or the defensive line gets set. We only look good when we have bodies in motion rolling forward and offloading and his scampers and quick play the balls got us rolling a few times.

I think your wrong he is an evolving young player who is doing the job Smith requires from him . I can see him as a mainstay you have to give young blokes time. His work rate per minutes is quite good he deserves his spot.

As much as the highlight reels would have it, League is not about scoring spectacular tries, it's about defence. Arona is a toiler, which is what you need in a brawl.

The trouble is a fair few of the players out there have bad attention lapses. The last five minutes showed that.

I think Arona is great, he has a big motor and is a very skillful ball player. He has great hands and is always looking to put someone into a hole. I like him at lock,

I also like Bosden in the second row at the expense of Guerra, who is a very lazy defender. Bosden also has a big motor and is very skillful and looks like he wants to hurt the opposition in attack and defence.

Arona and Bosden don't hide or go missing like FPN either.

Our whole forward pack has gone missing in patches the last two games without FPN The pack is a much softer unit without him. Some on here have and do not see this

Arona is an industrious little player with good work rate and some good skills. However given we also have Maubs, Guerra and Taka in our backrow rotation, Bosden would give the pack much more of a bite. Bosden is bigger and takes the ball up harder. Arona makes yards, but it will be with a jink and a spin. Our pack needs more size and steel in the backrow. A backrow rotation of Maubs, Guerra, Taka and Arona is neither big enough or hard enough. You need backrowers like Bosden in the pack that are a bit rougher and make the opposition look twice.

I agree we have missed FPN. I will qualify that by saying we missed the fired up FPN - not the bludger FPN. When FPN is on, our pack looks much better. He just needs to be on much more often.

He has been on pretty much all this season Currently our pack defensively is soft without him He also does a lot of work around the fringes of the ruck that go un noticed by most on here

Totally agree. He offers nothing. Can't believe all these people saying he has good ball skills and always looking to put players through gaps!?! I must be watching an entirely different player. All ive seen is one out hitups with no impact. You sure you guys arent getting him mixed up with Takairangi? Now theres a good player.

Has next to no penetration at all in either defence or attack.

He gets involved a lot, which leads to decent stats, but what the stats don't show is that a lot of his runs include him cutting back inside and snuffing out attacking chances we would have had if the ball had continued to be spread wide.

Great work ethic, but suffers from always wanting to take a settler when we start to get on a roll. Plays safety first football so much that he seems to be unable to then switch into attacking mode.

I think Arona has regressed since he has become a starter,he has totally forgotten how to off load the ball.
When he first came onto the scene his major weapon was ball playing,we have seen none of that over the past few weeks.
Another player gone backwards under Smith!
