    Not really roz, ball playing also includes the skill of offloading.

      'includes' being the operative. say for example arona passes before the line 90% of the time and only offloads 10% of the time, does this not make him a ball player?

        Just because he passes the ball before the line, doesn't mean he's a 'ball player'. Any player can pass a ball. A ball player is a player with an aray of ball skills ie. short balls, long balls, offloads, flick passes.

          i dont mean to be narky, my point is that you admit that ball playing envolves more than simply offloading yet your first post stated that as he has only made 1 offload this year, he is not a ball player. all im saying is that until you have his stats on those other ball playing skills, you cannot make such a comment

              Mate, you're clutching at straws now. There are no stats for short passes, long passes etc. I've watched every game and not once have I seen him put anyone through a hole or set up his outside men. He's not a ball player, simple as that.

                he had the 5th most handles of the ball on the weekend behind mitch, braith, friend and mini and he only played 60 mins. considering those 4 are our most important players, not bad for a non-ball player. of those 18 touches he carried the ball 13 times. the rest was passing.

                etched in my mind was a short-ball he popped to mini on his debut last year against the tigers that had mini burst through a hole. he has also played hooker as a younger bloke. trust me, the bloke knows how to ball play

                    Yes, he passes the ball, so do alot of other players. That doesn't mean he's 'ball playing' when he makes these passes. If he does have some ball playing in his game and in the coming weeks we see it, i'll stand corrected and will be happy to be wrong. I don't like bagging our own players, hate it actually but he just hasn't impressed me.

                      Exsqueeze me, but to add to the reaming you're copping from Roz, many can't simply pass a ball. I use Mini, Bwaiff and SKiD as examples of blokes who often fail with one of the basics of the game. Even Friendly has his moments.

                      Now Roz resume proceedings, it's quite enjoyable.

                        haha. while im glad to be of entertainment, that is not my intention and ive got a lot of time for what the kiwi has to bring to the table. i will make 1 final point though;

                        ill assume you agree that pearce is a 'ball player'. in the same game (against merge), pearce also only produced 1 offload to go with his 2 try assists and 11 carries. by your logic, his other 46 touches were just passing and not ball playing. i think ive made my point

                          Roz,

                          You are 100% right. I remember the ball that put Mini through a gap and sent him a long way down field. He has done this on another couple of occasions as well. He also has a real big motor and just keeps going and going.

                          He might not make the highlights reel, but he is one of the 1% players that coaches love (i.e. he does just that little bit extra, whether it be a great tackle, fast play the ball or cleaning up a dropped ball).

                          He is very under rated by some on here, I mean he is no SBW but every team needs hard workers to allow the show boats to do their thing.

                            So roz is a ball player better than a someone who has good ball skills?

                            Im not fussed on Arona.

                              He made 1 offload and Arona produced 0. That one offload is the same amount Arona has made all season. Pearce has offloaded 13 times. Yes alot of his touches were 'ball playing' because he knows how to do it, Arona doesn't. I don't think comparing Arona and Pearce is a very good comparison anyway because obviously Pearce has more touches of the ball because he plays in the halves. His stats are going to heavily outway Arona's alone on the fact he is the playmaker and main ball player. The point is though, Arona's playing lock, and I think we need a lock forward that has some ball playing in them and I just don't see it in Arona.
                              I'll agree to disagree though and hopefully your man can come up with some good plays soon roz, i'll be waiting.
