  • So any doubts here now?

That Robbo is a useless piece of … of a coach these days

It is a very sad reality … but one completely of his own making as well

Just a hopeless self-inflated coach these last couple of years … time for him to put the cue in the rack here and go coach the Tigers or Knights or some other bottom feeder … we definitely deserve better

LT, what upsets me most about robinson is that he has treated us fans as fools. He must have known that this group of players did not have it in them to achieve any great heights this year however he kept assuring us that the team is building into the season and will come home strongly. If he really believed that this team is better than it has performed well, I must say that he has real issues as a coach and as a judge of ability. On the other hand, if he did know that this team was an inferior side this year however was hoping for a miracle, then he should not be in charge (the running of) a multi-million-dollar organisation. I have always felt that robinson is a good man (person) manager and may have known this team lacked the ability to be a premiership threat however has tried to protect the players, their reputation and their income stream. However, again I must stress that no CEO/Senior Manager runs a business on hope and loyalty to staff who cannot perform their roles satisfactorily. Where is the loyalty to shareholders, in our case our sponsors who invest their funds and to fans that invest their passion, funds and time into following this great club. My gut feel is that robinson works on the latter premise as he does not drop senior players who have commitments (ie families, mortgages and reputations) however rather younger players such as sam walker as they are less affected due to their young age, lack of reputation and lack financial and family commitments. I would like to know your or anyone else's thoughts on my hypothesis.

No doubts at all about Coach Robinson being the Roosters Head Coach going forward and for as long as wants to Coach.

Do you ever get the feeling that no matter how many threads you and others start or post to about wanting Coach Robinson gone that it ain't going to happen ?

I recall Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner sticking with Bobby Cox as Manager when the "arm chair experts" were wanting him sacked as well.

The 1995 World Series win more than justified that decision.

Well that isn't going to happen under Nicks watch. Maybe you should try for a spot on the club board and shake things up?

Perhaps we should both join? Something needs to be done

Our recruiting manager is not in the best of health these days, that does not help. Peter O'Sullivan may have been as bent (ALLEGEDLY) as a dog's dinger but he recruited quality players. If Dom Young is receiving passes from Keary next year then he'll look like a reserve grader in the Super League.

I liked your post… because you’re a very earnest Roosters man

But you’re still living in fantasy land

Unlike other clubs the Roosters don't have members vote for and or run as candidates for the board of Directors.

Somehow I can't see Les Tricolores being head hunted by Nick Politis to be on the board let alone anywhere near it.

Robbo wins comps with the best players. If his position is secure beyond doubt for years to come then it shows a problem with the club being able to adapt to the present. I must say I don’t see much hope for the team for years to come. The NRL also have a real problem with the quality of referees. There are so many incorrect decisions despite their help. The Broncos were the better team but the Roosters wee never going to win with the penalties going against them in the first 30 minutes.

I find it hard to watch it these days.

I appreciate the sentiment easternboy… but old Robbo has had a top side this season …. and he or anyone else could not have delivered less

He is a good man… but that does not make him a good coach… as he has proved without doubt

He lost me at the end of last year… when he sold out the club and his own players for his own stupid self-important ideology while we were left publicly disgraced

I would have no problem forgiving him for that if he could actually do his job to some decent level of competence… but he can’t even do that… and I don’t think the players have completely forgiven him… and that is the most important thing

                      Nah, not at all.

                      The problem is

                      1. We hired a couple of dodgy players, and
                      2. We have a few who are probably too far over the hill to carry the team as they did in days past

That equals performance that can't match it with the top teams in the comp.

There will be a cleanout, but it won't be Robbo.

You are looking in the wrong place for the problem. We need:

                      - a succession plan in place for JWH, Toops, Keary and Teddy. They are all getting on, some more than others. They are still good players generally speaking, but against fresh enthusiatic and injury free legs of the opposition they will be found a bit wanting. Keary in particular should put his hand up, of he doesnt feel right mentally to play at 100%...which is clearly the case.

                      - removal of bad elements. One is gone (Lodge) a couple of others are not, but I hope will be in due course.

                      - better on-field leadership. Teddy should not be saddled with captaincy any longer. He is a great player, and an average captain. There is no shame in that. We need a proper general on field for 80 minutes. There has been the appearance of headless Chooks on field consistently for a while. The Souths match last year where we imploded was the red flag for this.

                      - Try to get Ben Hunt. Not only a very very good half, but well spoken and a genuine leader. Experienced, but not even close to being over the hill. One of the core elements of QLD's success. Not quite of the Cronk ilk, but should be someone who is our prime target, even if we have to pay the Drags a bit.
