Out of curiosity what did you make of Joey Manu saying it was time to let go and for everyone to move on when asked about the Latrell Mitchell hit?

Are you against those comments suggesting people should let it go?

That's an odd question 6. Joey, like Robbo, is of course entitled to say what he wants. And I'm entitled to disagree or agree with any of them. Joey handled the matter with the utmost class, as I said. Playing the matter down and not playing the victim - even though he clearly was the victim - is part of that. Being the bigger man. I'd imagine those comments were made weeks later, after he was out of hospital and preparing to play again. Regardless, I'm not against him saying anything.

Fair enough, I stand corrected in that he showed no remorse. He sent Joey a text. Saw nothing from him publicly apart from rude dismissal of questions about the matter. I suppose what he says to Joey is what matters though.

Changes nothing re my opinion of Robbo's response and input re the matter.

I give Gus a lot of credit for the 90’s and early 00’s but there was also several very dry years that followed that period.

Our recent success can be over-simplified as the Gibson era, Gould era & Robinson era. The years in between those were lean with some pockets of success scattered in.

It makes me wonder why someone like yourself who has a clear appreciation for our history of success has the desire to move so quickly out of the Robinson era with no clear and obvious options or strategy to move forward with. The Brisbane Broncos, a club with every competitive advantage a club could ever want haven’t reached anywhere near the same heights since Bennett left them in ‘08. Look at other sports where long serving coaches have moved on… in almost always gets worse before it gets better.

I’m prepared to give him all of next year, not just to get the team performing better but to make some good long term decisions around roster management (I said going into this season that I didn’t like the balance of the spine and for years I’ve been doubtful on our quality of edge backrowers).

I think the injuries sustained over the last few years fooled all of us and covered over some of the cracks and those issues have been amplified now.

Injuries remain a constant issue and can’t be just luck anymore, again this year no club has sustained more long term (5 weeks plus) injuries than us and this is something that needs to be addressed in the off-season. Continuity is such an underrated facet of our game.

I think he has put his trust into some people who have burnt him and I think he has recruited poorly. These are individual errors that he will need to check himself on but I’m also a big believer that people don’t just become bad overnight.

I have more belief that Robinson can turn it around than I do in any coach who could take the job for the next 3 years.

Joey Manu's mother also told people to move on and stop the abuse towards Latrell Mitchell if Joey Manu and his mother can forgive and move on then anyone else still harbouring resentment for a situation that happened between two people they don't know has some issues they need to take care of

I wouldn’t expect us to have a dominant record against the top sides… and certainly not against the Panthers these last 2-3 years… because generally that’s not how it works… the top sides will cancel each other out

But we’re 4-20 against the recent top 4 these last few years I believe… that is extremely poor… and something you’d expect from the Tigers or Knights… not a team loaded with rep players and the best player on Earth
