If anyone has any doubt as to the important role history plays in our club, listen to this great speech from John Brass the other night. He speaks of the honour of having legends like Ray Stehr attend the dressing room when JB himself was a younger guy playing firsts for Easts. And how that legend lives on. Jeez, Brassy still looks and sounds good.
John Brass speaks after becoming the 12th player inducted into the prestigious Sydney Roosters Hall of Fame.

        Coach,
When am I going to be inducted? I look better than Brassy.

I just don't get your point in rubbishing the players who built the club.
You must be a millenial who thinks anything that happened before they were born is of no relevance to them.

how am I rubbishing them? I said induct all HOF players of that era in one go and move on.

do you really think Buzz Rothfield and Andrew Webster - yes both were on the HOF committee - have any clue at all about players from 100+ years ago?

In 100 years, will they say the same as you about the legends that we worship today like Mini, Freddy, Toups etc?

Ignore history at your own peril.

in 100 years those players will have already been inducted to the HOF by people who saw them play.

What next have a new name for the Dally M's as no one is alive that seen Dally Messenger play or any available footage showing him playing.
dally messenger was recognised by his peers as the best player in the game at the time. However his importance to the game was far beyond anything he actually achieved on the field. The medal was also named after him at a time when there were people alive who saw him play. Same thing goes for the Clive Churchill medal.

Besides which, no one is talking about stripping honours from people. I simply do not accept that a group of 50-70 year old men can actually have an educated opinion on the playing career of a man who retired decades before any of them were born. So to try to argue to toss on whether Luke Ricketson should be held back in place of Sidney Pearce seems quite laughable to me.

both Pierces should have been inducted along with all their pre-war rooster legends when the HOF was created. Let the players who we can actually have informed discussions on be inducted through the voting process

Brassy certainly spoke well and his marbles are certainly in tact despite playing in an era when swinging arms, elbows, head highs, spear tackles and headbutts were the norm. And there are many, many more like him.

Yet the concussion hysteria protaganists won't mention blokes like him or Ron Coote and many, many others who are just fine.

                    You do understand the criteria

2 separate Era's of the Clubs History

                    Era 1: 1908 - 1947
                    Era 2: 1947 - Present

Did you watch the piece on 60 minutes with Wally Lewis?

There is more than enough medical evidence on head trauma in sport - yeh sure not everyone will be affected by repeated head knocks and concussions the same way - but more of a chance of developing CTE and other Brain diseases symptoms such as Dementia / Alzheimer's as a result than folk who don't.

Similar to the argument of Tobacco companies that not everyone who smokes develops lung cancer - smokers have more of a chance of developing lung cancer than non smokers

I so miss the shoulder charge, and hate that any good hard tackle is now rewarded with a sin-bin.

the criteria is merely based on games played in order to be nominated. There aren’t seperate halls of fame nor are their quotas for how many players can be inducted from either era

Actually bought a tear to my eye, Johnny Brass is a legend and you could tell how much this club meant to him. Actually good to see and hear from him again as i have not heard very much about him at all for a very long time, great to see he is still going well.

Brass never gets the mentions that other centres get, but he was all class...and an international! The best hands in the game; always made others look good!
