Was he playing against the Under 10s!? This is incredible.

I speak to one of his teammates on a regular basis and he goes on about how good this bloke is going to be. Says he’ll play NRL next season.

Quite a lot as he would be in contention to take Swarlee’s spot when he leaves.

Young will take the right wing. Toia will be fighting Billy Smith for a crack at left centre.

Billy Smith needs competition for that other centre spot. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s picked up his form in the last week or so off the back of Toia’s recent performances.

Is Billy a Roosters junior? He's a Rooster through and through and while he may have been out of our minds whilst injured he seems to bleed red white and blue and is very keen to pay back the faith the Roosters have shown in him.

Maybe no need to fast track Toia only being 18? I am a big fan of his potential though.

Manu to fullback when teddy retires with Smith and Toia in the centres?

I thought Moga was going to be the next Mal Meninga.

Didn't TRobbo dangle the carrot at Dom Young and get him across the line with a view of giving him a go in the centres?

IF Lewis Murphy proves himself he should feature on the other wing with Toops.

Decent depth and players fighting to keep their positions is what's needed.

Most here frothed over the potential of Suaalli only to turn on him when his formed dropped, which coincided with him being played out of position. While I expect the ‘He defected to rugby’ rhetoric will be offered as the reason, if his form had held, the fickle nature of this forum would still be blowing smoke up his arse awaiting the day he returns to the Roosters in glory.
While I consider he is being way overpaid for what he offers, both by us and RA, that’s not his fault and while I don’t know anybody on here personally, I’d be pretty confident to say that none of us would knock it back if we had negotiated that deal for ourselves.
I hope Robert Toia does live up to his potential and has a great career with us but also hope we cut him some slack when he inevitably goes through a bad patch.
Yes happy to agree with above but it’s the way in which it’s all happened with suaali he did to south Sydney what he did too chooks
south Sydney paid him to go through private school only for him to turn his back on them
not that I care about them
then roosters moved heaven and earth including getting she nrl to agree to sign him off to play nrl as a 17 year old
and he went around the / his management team did and signed with rugby Australia
the fact suaali wont make out top 17 next year why would you keep him? Even if a team does not perform well you still can individually and at least show up which he wasn’t interested most of the year
his career will be as a mercenary going to the highest bidder
However his next contract may be a lot less

IMO part of the puzzle is that our team s*x this year. If we were winning other aspects of the game then I reckon the great Aukuso Sua'ali'i would be absolutely killing it at centre. I reckon we see this with guys like Steve Crichton... when you take him outta the Penrith systems he's not THAT good at centre. However with Penrith he's frigging lethal.

We thought we'd be a top-4 team this year and if we were, it woulda been an easy transition for Aukuso. However as it is, you can't expect him to learn the role while also dominating in a bottom-8 team that's been awfully close to spoon territory but for a few early season wins against Souffs and Parra.

His time will come! IMO blaming a young winger for your season's form while boasting that some kid's getting mad stats in NSW cup is a false economy. We all know that NSW cup is nothing like the NRL...
Yes and nsw cup is still against men, first games out of school and only 18
suaali great gps rugby was at school
just saying not bad for someone now playing men and not schoolboys and coming back from an acl injury

not blaming him for the roosters bad year but he has been found out badly at centre in 1st grade
I mean come on if you get stepped and beaten on the outside by Moses Suli….

The reports insinuated that Robinson was open to giving Young an opportunity in the centres down the line as he progressed, not immediately. The only way I see Young playing centres next year is if Suaalii is still here as you think one of them would have to play centre and Suaalii has already tried and failed.

Joey Manu being off contract next year is the elephant in the room around all of this. I don’t think anyone blames him if he takes a fat contract to play fullback elsewhere after next season.

Did anyone watch the game mentioned - 236 metres sounds more like what a fullbacks running metres would be in a game.

Asking because Fullback Ethan King suffered an MCL injury in the first 5 or so minutes of that game,

Did Robert Toia play centre or went back to fullback in that game.

He's actually a fullback but has been playing centre only at the Roosters in games I have seen on NSWRL TV

he played u18 origin when he was 15 or 16 and was a stand out then as well.

hopefully we have a pathway into the first team if he is worth it and like Wong I reckon he will be
