What was JWH on when we won B2B? Reports are $800K. So an extra $200K in times when the salary cap is much higher probably warrants the extra for what Haas has to offer. He is the best going around and can play 80 minutes. Haas, Collins, Spencer and one of our young guns wins us a comp. $1M is his market value as other teams are prepared to pay it. I hope he comes.
BTW those bringing up his Mum shows how low some people are.

Gees 1 Million for a prop
Folk are banging on about the Roosters having spent 1.55 mill on two centres - Manu - 800 k and Suaalii - 750 k and 800 k on a Dummy Half - Brandon Smith
Props 600 to 800 k max range for Seasoned NRL/Rep props
Paying a prop 1 million would have a flow on affect to other roles - how much then do you pay so called spine players/ wingers/ other forwards especially the ones that play 80 minutes week in week out.
How much are Goal Kicking Backs worth ?
Your Cap will be out of whack paying overs for certain positions.
Regular 13 players - min to max
Fullbacks - 600 k to 800 k
Wingers - 300 to 400 k
Centres - 400 to 600 k
5/8's - 600 to 800 k
7's - 600 to 800k
Props - 400 to 800 k
Dummy Halves - 600 to 800k
Second Rowers - 400 to 600k
Locks - 400 k to 600 k
5.8 mill min to 8.6 mill max
Then from 2.85 to 5.65 mill left for the 17 other players for a 30 player squad - min wage is currently 120 k

If you think we can win games with Collins and Spencer then you will be blaming Robbo again in 2025.
Look what happens to us when JWH and Collins are off the field. All respect to our young guns but they are not ready for NRL and probably won't be in 2025 which leaves us exposed. Many thought that Baker and May were going to step up so nothing is guaranteed for anyone else coming through.
Many teams will go for Walker regardless of whether we get Haas or not. Even if Haas stays in Brisbane they will still go for Walker. A bit naïve to think not.
It’s naive to think that an extra $1.1M in their salary cap won’t give the Bronx a significant advantage in securing Walker.
If you had to choose, who would you prefer at the club long term, Haas or Walker?

It's "pretty pathetic" to disregard it flippantly because he is a good footy player.
I happen to think he is an amazing front rower. One of the best the game has seen in a very long time. I also think he seems to have 3-4 incidents off-field every year, many of which are reflective of his character. For example, asking for a release during the season, criticising the club and its fans mid-season. The main reason that you don't consider to be a big deal is the most recent and high-profile and admittedly he didn't have much control of it. Still creates negative headlines.
It would be a panic buy. He isn't even the most important player at the Broncos so you can win comps without spending 7 figures on front rower.

Broncos have unlimited third parties. If they want Haas and Walker they will get them both. As will we.

So what his Mum did is reflective of his character.
That's like saying if you are a FDC your kids are also FDC's.
I suppose Nicho is a druggo and dealer. And he brings along plenty of off-field distractions as a result of his Mum.

keep in mind
jwh $800k to retire
Keary $800k to retire or more on
Suaali $750k gone
Gus critchon if not re signed $750k
tupou $400k maybe retires
rhe average salary is around $400k for a top 30 player at $12m salary cap and with it climbing to $14m next season that’s up to $470k so we have to realise we are not living 5-10 years ago and player wages are also inflating
if good props are $800k now an extra $200k isn’t much more

There is nobody better than Haas and if Uncle Nick gets him you will be creaming your pants in 2025 and back on the Robbo bandwagon.

I rate Carrigan more than Haas aswell. Think he has more impact on a game and better leadership skills, but I don’t see him ever leaving Brissy.
Again, it’s only my opinion, but that’s how I’d manage the salary cap. It’s probably our recent injury rate that’s scared me off over investing too much money in any one position. Many ways to skin a cat thoughLast edited by Qld Chook; 08-10-2023, 03:12 PM.
