I just explained the distractions. Just last year he tried to walk out on the club 2 days before a game then got booed out of the stadium and then questioned why the fans would boo him. He asks for a contract release every 3 weeks it seems. It's either him or his manager. Has a month gone by since his debut where something off-field hasn't occurred with him? Be it either disciplinary action, a contract stand-off, etc.
I'm not saying he's a terrible human being, I don't know the bloke but he clearly is a walking headline. He brings heaps of baggage with him. You are choosing to ignore that because he is good at footy. Just like many on here (including myself) chose to ignore Lodge's past issues because he was playing great footy for us, only for it to end how it did.
Haas will go where the most money is and that's fine, he is a premier athlete and it's his prerogative to do so. I just hope it isn't us because I think it will create disharmony and indicate we are on a decline when you spend silly money on a forward. Has a touch of the Willie Mason about it. Dominant forward on huge money. No prop should earn more than 800k in my book if you want a successful team.
Get Tino for 800k, who brings leadership qualities, is cheaper, has a connection to Holbrook and is future captain material.

Yeah nah ... he's off to Union !
No other team will pay more than $1.1 million per season for him ... as dumb as the Tigers and Bulldogs are, they wouldn't break the bank and I highly doubt we would pay even a million for him.
If he wins a comp with the Broncos (hypothetically this season) then he will be off to chase a world cup with the Wallabies !

Only issue is, where would he actually play in Union? He is too mobile and athletic to be a front rower in that game but too large to be in the backline. Just couldn't see his game being conducive to that code.
Agree though. If we or any NRL club pay 1.1m for a farrking prop, they will feel the pain long-term.
Case in point, the Cows signing Lolo on huge money, 1mil a season for 10 years. You could argue JT was better than Haas was in his prime and actually won the Dally M. Was also a better off-field representative for the club and whilst Cows have done ok the last couple of years, they had a few years of pain immediately after that deal went through and have to rely on getting Townsend as their premier 7 and will have a big fight on their hands to keep Dearden next season because a huge chunk of their cap is going towards a prop.
It's not a position that can directly influence a premiership win and its a position that carries the most risk of injuries and HIAs. Lolo still a tremendous player but has been battered and playing injured the last few years and is now a rotation player on 1mil a season. WAYYY too much risk for 1mil + , not sure how others don't see that with Haas.Last edited by HunchoRooster; 08-11-2023, 10:47 AM.

If you think it's acceptable, well think again because tools like you attract unnecessary attention which could force this site to be shutdown.
