Only issue is, where would he actually play in Union? He is too mobile and athletic to be a front rower in that game but too large to be in the backline. Just couldn't see his game being conducive to that code.

Agree though. If we or any NRL club pay 1.1m for a farrking prop, they will feel the pain long-term.

Case in point, the Cows signing Lolo on huge money, 1mil a season for 10 years. You could argue JT was better than Haas was in his prime and actually won the Dally M. Was also a better off-field representative for the club and whilst Cows have done ok the last couple of years, they had a few years of pain immediately after that deal went through and have to rely on getting Townsend as their premier 7 and will have a big fight on their hands to keep Dearden next season because a huge chunk of their cap is going towards a prop.

It's not a position that can directly influence a premiership win and its a position that carries the most risk of injuries and HIAs. Lolo still a tremendous player but has been battered and playing injured the last few years and is now a rotation player on 1mil a season. WAYYY too much risk for 1mil + , not sure how others don't see that with Haas.
He would be a #8, and a damn good one. He's the perfect player for that position in Union ... strong carries, highly mobile and rock solid defence.

He’s supposedly a devout Muslim so he won’t drink. That’s a good thing.

He’s easily the best forward in the game already and he has only upside. Won’t peak for probably 5 years. Imagine how good he’ll be then. Plus he has a huge motor. You can’t win a comp unless you have the best players. I can’t for the life of me understand why anybody would say no to this signing. Don’t worry about the salary cap, it’s not your problem! He’s the only one capable of being a genuine replacement for the great JWH.

If we secure Haas I’ll be singing from the rooftops.
What are you willing to spend and on our cap to secure him mun?

        Sorry Dr V,

But let's keep his family out of it because this is a public forum.
Myself and other mods are growing increasingly peed off having to close off topics because of the mud throwing and personal attacks but more so, LET'S KEEP IT ON TOPIC!

There you go. Thanks for clarification. Not a rugby expert.

          Could see him going then.

I think the best forward in the game is worth $800k. We can make up the rest with third party agreements.

Keyboard Warrior maybe keep it clean as a show of respect for the other forum users. Your constant dribble is boring. I can guarantee you I am a lot more successful than you despite my ‘low IQ’.

If SBW advised him to come to the Roosters, and if Haas holds SBW in such high regard as claimed, I’d take him. I don’t think he’ll be flip flopping like he is at the Broncs if that’s the case. He’s not only the best forward in the game, he’s easily one of the most consistent I’ve seen for a while.

We need more players who can play at a good standard consistently. Haas can do that and then some.

If he does come, it would be interesting to see him and Collins as teammates and then opponents come SOO time.

                    • It was reported that Haas knocked backed a 3 year extension worth 1.1 mill a season to test himself on the open market from 1 November 2023.

That's big bickies for a prop - More the type of money top so called spine players are paid.

Sure teams could pay 800k and top it up with TPA's but it is what the NRL Salary Cap Auditors value him at that is recorded under the cap.

TPA's are on the decline making up roughly 3% of players income.

There is not a big market for such payments - Not like the US where for an example MLB players such as Shohei Ohtani can make 25 mill USD a year from endorsements and what not.
