If this is for an NRL game and not a trial then all sides must have the bye the following week

The National Rugby League (NRL) today confirmed the four (4) Clubs that will compete in the exciting Round One 2024 NRL Telstra Premiership matches planned for Las Vegas.

Following a competitive process and careful consideration of Club proposals, four teams have been selected to participate in 2024:

      Brisbane Broncos
      Manly Sea Eagles
      South Sydney Rabbitohs
      Sydney Roosters

I gather all 4 will have byes in Round 2 along with 1 other side

17 hours time difference - 18 when these games are played

NRL in Las Vegas: Four clubs confirmed for historic US fixture

In a historic move, the NRL have revealed the four clubs that will launch the 2024 season in the US for the first time in the game’s history.

The Sea Eagles, Roosters, Rabbitohs are set to join the Broncos in Las Vegas next year.

In a historic move, the NRL have revealed the four clubs that will launch the 2023 season in the US for the first time in the game’s history.

Kick-off in Sin City will be played on March 2, with the matches to be aired in Australia on Sunday afternoon.

The double-header will be played at Allegiant Stadium, which is the home of the Los Vegas Raiders in the NFL.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host a historic NRL double-header.
“The 2024 Las Vegas matches will form part of an exciting ‘Australia Week’ in Las Vegas where we will be showcasing rugby league and Australia to the US market,” Mr Abdo said.

“We are now working collaboratively with the four clubs to finalise arrangements for the proposed matches in Las Vegas and make this a blockbuster event for fans by maximising travel, attendance and enjoyment of a unique rugby league experience.

“Rugby league will be on a stage which the sport has simply never been on before and we look forward to giving all clubs the opportunity in coming years.”

Manly will be one home team with the Roosters expected to be the other host. Which means it will either be Manly taking on South Sydney/Brisbane and the Roosters playing the other.

It would seem unlikely that the local derby blockbuster between South Sydney and the Roosters would be played in America.

Sea Eagles boss Tony Mestrov said his club were thrilled to be part of the event.

“ It’s a big opportunity, not only for the game but the Manly club,” Mestrov said. “Scott Penn our chairman lives in New York so there are some financial opportunities on top of this adventure.

“It is exciting to be pioneers in the US for rugby league. It will be a great experience for the whole club.

“At the end of the day we’re there to win a game of footy. We are mindful of that but the experience this is something everyone in the club can look back on as a potential once in a lifetime.”

While its good promotion for the team not a fan of the travel and likely wasting an early bye so early in the season.

Let me guess - it will be a home game - and subscription fees will be higher than last year - for less home games. Plus Magic Round will continue to be a home game.

I simply don’t get it. Why.

With our round one record and the extra travel I'm not expecting a fast start in 2024

Bet it counts as Roosters home game.

A date would be nice so we can book flights of keen to attend. Surely if it’s a home game members who go there can get a “free” ticket.

Hopefully we aren’t playing Souths. Would be bad to deprive Sydney of this fixture. I’m guessing it will be Souths as the NRL will want the usual agro and drama that comes with this fixture,

Not if we play Souths. They get the Round 1 fixture next season as we got it this year.

I've been to Vegas 3 times, twice with the Fam and once on a boys trip...it's a ****ing good time.
I just did a quick approximate guide on what the cost would be for a boys trip. I reckon return flights, 7 nights accom and $500 per person per day you could easily get it sorted for $6500 total cost. Not crazy money. Gambling is what would blow out the budget. I like a punt on the horses here but Casinos and pokies don't interest me. Plenty of cool day trips out into the desert from Vegas also. Great trip , trust me ( thats $500 Aus per day, only about $325 US)

I’ve also been to Vegas three times. I’m not a gambler so never gambled a dollar. In 1994 I got a high-five from Shaquille O’Neil at the Mirage Hotel. At the time I didn’t even realise who he was. Just followed all the others who were high fiving him as the walked around the pool area followed by his entourage.

You thinking about making the trip?
