What's the contract situation with Turps? I'd like for him to be retained. Overall has probably been our most consistent hooker this year

Sandon will develop into a star imo. We looked more cohesive when he came on to the park. We need to lock him down.
Billy Billy Billy Billy He's almost starting to grow on me. Is there a touch of Brett Kenny when he runs the ball?
Toddy. Give me Todd over Klein or Cummins any day of the week. It was a ranga fest.
Brandon. He doesn't suit our style of footy or hasn't found his groove yet. His dummy half service is slow and cumbersome. Perhaps a better 40 minute lock option.Last edited by Bates; 08-13-2023, 09:57 PM.

Just hoping Brandon Smith doesn’t turn out to be a dud but did much prefer Verrills. Brandon doesn’t seem to play much footy does he have an ongoing health issue or problem getting fit? The Storm certainly aren’t missing him.“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

Like a few others I will give him another 12 months before making a decision. Had limited prep with the club due to the world cup and then copped an injury so it has been a bumpy ride so far and for those of you old enough to remember, Adrian Morley didn't exactly set the world alight in his first season and we know how that turned out

we signed him at the beginging of 2022 after he had a huge season in 2021 and rightfully won dummy half of the year. The rule changes made his style of play so dynamic and so much of Melbourne's creativity that year came off the back of him either directly or off the back of the momentum he created.
However unlike some others on here I think the rule reversals in 2022 saw the game return back to some normality which doesn't suit Brandon's front foot, up tempo, run first style of play anywhere near as much.
His numbers this year are actually in line with the rest of his career, sadly I don't think that this is a down year for him. It's probably just the norm..
You can see all his stats right across the board peak in 2021 but every year before and after that they are very similar.
What he is doing less than compared to his previous seasons is running the ball and that's because Bellamy would often use him as a middle forward in games which is potentially where I see his career heading.
Sadly I think we signed a player based on an anomaly of a season and it could potentially hurt us for years to come as he's in the top 3 paid players at the club and has 24 months left to run on his contract.

Billy the Kid - 8
Sandon - 6.5
Cheese - 3
Sandon needs to work on his delivery from half. Needs to start passing from the ground as he's inclined to take a step out of half which reduces the time his halves have with the ball. Drew (quick between the ears) was caught a few times on the weekend with slow service from Sandon.
Cheese has been very disappointing. I loved Verrills but another injury has him now done for the season so maybe we had to make a business decision. If Verrills stays healthy I'd love to see us make a play to bring him back down the track. Does his and Cheese contract end line up?

Brandon will come good, been out for a long time this season and finding his feet in a team that's been struggling.
The blame crew bagging Robbo for such a terrible signing...ffs, try having some patience.Last edited by Batemans Bay Rooster; 08-14-2023, 03:56 PM.
