Jesse Ramon for cronulla on the weekend did the same type of tackle on ponga which resulted in pongas shoulder injury. No penalty no sin bin and no citing by the mrc. The inconsistency is breathtaking. Sure JWH was careless and makes stupid mistakes but it wasn't a grade 2. He is a Morley type, but sadly the NRL has gone too hard in stamping out some big hits...but not for all players.

Mate there is no way it should’ve ever been cited as a grade 2. It was a grade 1 and should’ve been downgraded. There is no consistency at all. It’s not even close to other grade 2 dangerous contacts that have occurred this year.

The unpredictability & incompetence of the judiciary meant it was always going to be a risk. But a risk worth taking imo. To potential halve the suspension, and cut it back to 3 games was very appealing. To me, there isn’t much difference between 6 & 7 games on the sideline. Hopefully, NZ & the Māori All Stars can bank a few of the games up for him.

Not trying to downplay how much he has let down the club and us as fans but it’s the NRL inconsistencies that irk me.

Not sure if JWH will be able to apply for Tri-Series games to be included in his individual suspension period if it can be confirmed that he would have been selected for NZ.

NZ will play at least 2 games and maybe 3 if they play in the final.

I don’t think the hit was bad at all. Late yes, but not much in real time. Api is one of the most deceptive players in the comp and fake kicks all the time! I mean he did it at least once prior in the game.

I didn’t think it was high, looked like initial contact was chest on shoulder with any ensuing contact being incidental, glancing and not forceful - which was proven by Api bouncing to his feet and joining in on the melee. Tbh penalty would’ve been sufficient, grade 1 dangerous contact at worst. There was nothing in the head butt either but I can understand trying to rub that out.

Agree mate but all the priors this year where clumsy Jared has been fined instead of serving suspension has gone against him. Eventually something had to give.
Challenging the grading was a silly and risky roll of the dice given the recent clamp down on players charging out of the line.

Big Red from the Raiders should consider himself unlucky because at the start of the year his hit on the weekend would have been considered a solid hit without infraction.

Yep a bit late, but he hit him in the shoulder/back region. The butt was minor, not a proper kiss. They forgot to take into account he had a lynch mob surrounding him from the Tiges. Whats a fella gonna do? Those head to head nudges happen all the time now you can't throw a punch.
