  • Roosters Player Punishments

I hope the Roosters don't have stupid, childish, ridiculous, unreasonable, abusive punishments for any players who miss tackles, are late for training etc.
...like the ones listed for other clubs in today's Daily Telegraph.

There could be an overheight truck stuck in the Harbour tunnel, and a player driving to training...not his fault he'd be late.

Punishments that make players physically ill.

Eat the hottest foods...could be serious health issue for players.

Shave head, dye hair blond, sand pits..."Ben Walker Sandpit" is famous.

    Etc.

      Me no understand.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Big scandal, Dogs punished player by making him wrestle many others players, to the result that he was reportedly battered and bruised, exhausted. He's walked out on the club.
Punishments dished out by other clubs are listed in the Tele.

There is a reason he hasn't played much first grade. Nice enough dude but not big on hard work

An hour listening to Robbo talk about all things non footy would punish me. Having said that, is Robbo making a late change? Last year he was publicly egging Victor and JWH on, even after they lost us the semi. Now he comes out and simply says "that he is angry". That would normally be a 2,000 word (in a roundabout kind of way) statement from him. I hope he keeps things simple from here on in. I don't think it's all bad news losing Jared either. Now one of the younger guys has a chance to step up in a big game.

The whispers are that the player is actually Jackson Topine

Making players eat hottest chillies, shave their heads, dye their hair blond, flog them with exercise until they're physically sick, make them get up at 5am and jump into ocean baths (Newcastle).
Spin the wheel of punishment and see what you get.
All no way to run a modern football club "The Roosters Way".
                Handling errors....you introduce special training.
Fittler's idea for SKD was a good one, and harmless.

It's NRL, not GI Jane and torture at the US Marines.

Was a local junior, their SG Ball player or the year in 2019, Clubman of the Year after that, impressing everyone at the Club with his attitude to being part of the Dogs club.

Maybe he decided that the new coach, new club culture, and what was dished out to him were unfair and impossible to put up with.
So he waved the Dogs farewell.
Hope he gets a start somewhere else.

clubs have to have some sort of punishment thing going (e.g. dropping a player because he played badly and someone else can do a better job). as long as punishments are sensible it's probably a good thing

Dropping a player who played badly would be part of the acceptable "form" deal ...and likely seen by the dropped player as fair enough...especially if explained to the player by an assistant coach , and suggesting how the player might improve.
The way a certain coach of ours treated Justin Hodges was, shall we say, not ideal, so Justin took his talent elsewhere.
Flog the players all week at training, and they'll have nothing much left for the weekend.
                            Respect is a two-way street.
