  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Souths

What a dream match up and opportunity we have been afforded tonight. Who would have thought weeks ago that this game would mean so much and take on such relevance and importance.

Don’t believe the BS comments from our player interviews about them not having revenge on their minds for this one. Revenge will surely be right up there as motivation to win this game after their dirty tactics last year.

The opposition are absolute scum and have blamed us for their recent turmoil. They are grubby filthy alcoholic bludging unemployed scum of the earth. I f****n hate them!

Whether we make the semis or not, if we can knock this vermin filth out of the comp, it won’t be such a bad year after all.

    GO YOU MIGHTY ROOSTERS!

Sure we are missing Toops strong carries from our end and Manu’s attack too but if our forwards go well we should still win.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Hutch to centre and Allan to wing.

I believe we will win this.
Our forwards can match theirs, and Teddy, Keary and Sammy can create enough opportunities for us to score.
Souths have been a rabble for the last 2 months, they let in plenty of points.
They will be fired up for the first 15 minutes, but if we can defend strongly and score early we can take the fight out of them.
Smith out of dummy half, with Walker backing him up is a deadly combination.
Teddy will find gaps, Suaalii will be a threat on every attacking kick.
Backs to the wall, all hands to the pumps, do or die, that's what we need.

Based on the above two contributions to this thread, Ray, I suggest you book in your psychiatrist for tomorrow to help you deal with the win.

Bugger! He was clutching at his hip/rib in the second half last week

It's come down to this. We are reaping the results of an underachieving season tonight. We get one chance to put a positive stamp on it.

The losses of Jared, Joey and Toups can't be over-stated. We lose size, power and experience from either side and in the guts. If they play, I think we win comfortably. Now its very much even stevens and will come down to who best takes their opportunities when presented.

Souths have been poor recently can't sugar coat it. They will have some early fire in the belly tonight. Starting well is crucial to both teams. First score won't decide the game, but the second one might.

We've got the better spine, they've got the forward depth in the middle. We've lost our clear advantage in the three quarters. Our halves will now try to target Billy on the left and Aussie Joe on the right with the goal line cross kicks. Joe could be a match winner but will cop more blocks and escorts than a personal classifieds column.

This could become Cheese night. I reckon if he hits top gear, we could just jag a win. Key player tonight.

Who deserves it more? Probably them, led the comp and were faves to win it mid year.

We get one shot to right a wrong. Lets hope the footy Gods smile and we kick their ass into Mad Monday.

                      Go Easts.

With suspensions and injuries I find myself rather concerned about the outcome of this game Hopefully we can jag a win and end Souffs season

Really up against it now with three of our guns out but the boys have been playing a lot better over the last month. The week off came at the best time for Souths after all the drama they had.
Big task for Radley tonight in defence as I expect he will be given the job on the right edge working with Sammy and Allen but he is a terrific tackler with good mobility and they will have to shut down Cody and co.
Shame about the injuries and suspensions as it's turned what was a coin flip into souths favour but we are in with a shout with the form of Lindsay, Teddy and Keary.
                          Easts to win

We need solid games from the lesser players like Billy and Sandon Smith, Wong, Baker, May, Allan and Egan. We pretty much know what we will get from the “stars”.

Would be great to see Angus have an impact and for Radley to be at his best and play hard but disciplined.

We should win regardless of our injuries and suspensions. They are missing Burgess and Mitchell who on his day is the best RL player in the comp. They're also in a major form slump and I believe their coach has lost the dressing room.

                              Roosters 10 plus.

                              Up the Chooks.
