You have to love that. Sammy is going to end up as one of the game's greats imo.

Sam Walker is the present and future of this club, Queensland and Australia. He must be retained at all costs.

          Thats a big call mate.

Still needs a decent kicking game and a bit more zip to be the finished product.

He's 21 and has played 55 games for us. Find me a halfback who was the finished product at that age. Sam is the closest you will get at his age.

Reece Walsh is the same age and can do it all now. I know he's a freak, and an exception. Fullback isn't much easier than halfback these days.

But yes, I'm all for giving young players time and hate to judge players too early.

He has come back well from being relegated, but maybe putting him in the green and gold is slightly premature.

Reece Walsh is another one who is special.

I'm not saying he should be playing for Australia now, I'm saying he will be there soon enough.

Fullback is very different from halfback and requires different attributes to succeed.

There's a reason why there are so many world class fullbacks and wingers under the age of 23 and not one halfback.

Tell you what...put Walsh in the halves he'd still kill it. Conversely, Sam to custodian probably wouldn't be pretty.

walsh is a freak but sammy does okay. had a great first year 2021 and could easily have led us to a premiership last year if we hadn't been decimated by injuries and this season has been disrupted by a knee injury but this season isn't finished yet and he looks likely

If Walsh had to play the halfback role he certainly wouldn’t kill it. His side would struggle as he’s never shown any ability to organise or direct a side around the park.

As a 5/8 who had no organising duties and just had to create, yeh he would do well but we’re talking about halfback play here.

Not the finished product but Cleary was an Origin player and winner at 21, Cherry-Evans picked up his first caps for Australia at 22 and won a comp at 22, not a halfback but Munster was 23 when he debuted for Australia and Queensland.

I'm a big Sam supporter and think he's great but if he's going to become the future of Australia and QLD representative footy then you'd be expecting him to have a massive breakout year either this year or next if he's going to follow in the foot steps of the players currently in those spots.

Cleary shouldn’t have been in that side…was a passenger

My prediction is that he will do just that.

That’s in your opinion, and others have different opinions, hence the saying about opinions………
