  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Sharks

It’s the business end of the season. A new competition begins.

Some may think we are lucky to be here. Let’s not forget about our expectations before Round 1 this year. Many expected us to win the comp. Not progressing pass the first weekend of the finals would be considered a failure.

Sharks are rubbish. I’ve thought it all year and I stand by it. Losing to them was an embarrassment. Their position on the ladder is testament to the weakness of this competition.

We are a much better side than them and I believe tonight we will prove it. Their wax head fans carried on like they had won the comp when they beat us in Round 7. Tonight, we knock them out of the competition.

If you are going to be there, make some noise.

    GO YOU MIGHTY ROOSTERS!

I’m feeling positive about this one. I reckon we might just make a statement.

    Bring it on!!

finals footy is what it's all about and i'm grateful that we made it again. sharks won't be pushovers but our attack is looking alright and if we continue to do good things in defence we'll get em

We are here now, a clean slate to do some damage.

They won't be the push over at home that some imagine but if Manu plays then we should have a bit too much class for them.

        Chooks by 10.

Whoooo!!! Gonna pop some more limoncello tonight and pull out the munchies because this one's gonna be awesome.

Sharks have done the dodge with their weird stadium (which should be closed down IMO - why can they use it but Souffs can't use Redfern) so I'll be loving it even more if we can do a job on them.

As always I respect our opposition and think we're gonna have to dig deep if we wanna win. However, I expect Easts to play better than what we've seen of the Sharks. Respectfully... I think our players can do better.

We've definitely got a chance I reckon. Stadium will be hostile but the refs pretty much gave the Sharks the last game (have blacked out the details but they denied us a frigging obvious try, gifted the Sharks one that was 10cm short and then piggy-backed them to a gratuitous victory.

We were shyte back then too though. Shoulda scored more but our attack was a joke. Tonight's gonna be sweet for us if we can bundle them out...

hopeful if we play to our ability we will win. Toops and JWH big outs but super Sam is back , Manu is back and our number one forward Big Dog Lindsay is on fire.

Ok so we've made a late dash for the closing train doors and just made it. But at least we made it...confidently. (Don't try that at home kids).

We lost the right to host our own final, so we'll just have to suck that up.

Coaching staff would have practiced and drilled our right side defence these past two weeks as Souths and Sharks run very similar plays there. Sharks even slicker when they are on, on the Joes to keep knocking them back and shut it down.

Fitzy knows our plays backwards and the little tinkers Robbo does for finals footy. He will have a couple of plays to test our pressure points.

We need to get a couple of big shots on Hynes and make him hurt. Legally. Don't let him get comfortable. Cut down his time and he will make a blue or two. Can kiss and make up after the final whistle.

For our part its all about discipline. Keeping that steely resolve when circs go against us. Keep backing ourselves and playing with freedom and fun.

As a team, we are in a good zone to give this finals series a decent crack now.

                          Easts by 22.

Everyone is so confident while I’m nervous. I’m looking forward to Sammy getting redemption for that game which lead to his dropping. We have to watch Hynes as everything revolves around him. Let’s go Easts! This cannot be the last game I get to watch in 2023.

I get the same feeling when some on here are over confident. Hynes has a lot of wrongs to right and will be primed for leading his side to a win. I anticipate our defence will be the difference though.
