I'm wondering why Coach Smith persists with that kick off reception formation. It was shown up to be wrong in the second half last week when Saints started their comeback and this week the Knights did it. I saw Anasta screaming for players to move up to defend it.

It wasn't the formation that was the problem today, more the reluctance of the receivers to move up to try and take the ball on the full. It was also a dropout, which can be a little harder to predict.

Last week the formation was correct but Mini got outjumped by Nightingale.

Just got home after going to the game and having a bit of dinner afterwards, thought we played brilliantly right across the park.

Pearce really stamping his authority the last few weeks, and Anasta actually looked alive out there today. Best forwards were JWH, Mossy and Taka. Special mention to Mini as well who was immense at the back and clearly chasing that blues No.1 jersey hard.

Friend also played well. Didn't give away any penalties and actually showed a bit of nous in attack for a change. That should be his minimum standard every week. Unfortunately looks like he'll get a week or 2 on the sidelines with a high tackle charge so won't get a chance to back it up next week.

Only issue I had with today is that we should have had the game iced by half time. Earned ourselves a stack of field position and completely dominated the game from start to finish but only really pulled away in the final 10 mins.

All good signs for next week, but a really big month of challenges ahead
That's cause the vitriol has emerged in other threads...

The best thing about this game was the short kick off and regather at the start of the game.

I have never understood why it isn't utilised more often, the reward outweighs the risk I would think.

My thoughts exactly, Boyd was absolutely woeful for them yesterday, we owned him at every opportunity, loved it, what an imposter the "great" Darius truly is!

It said we are here to play. A positive move

And if teams did it more, they would have to bring someone up )like a fullback to cover it) whidh would then give extra space at the back for a long kick which could force a dropout.

It was an intentional opening surprise. The team rehearsed & perfected it many times during the week.

I really appreciated the surprise and applaud the team for delivering it very well.

It's the last game we won.
