Batesy...the NRL and the clubs of course given the nature of the industry they're in, obviously have the highest grade of private health cover and insurance known to man. No-one is handing over cash to get a procedure done mate.

If it's a fringe player, what do the NRL do, ask the rep team coach "Would you have picked this guy"? my God. what a laughing stock the NRL are to even go down this path. With a supposed crackdown on what players were able to get away with back in the day, and all the head injuries stuff nowadays, why on earth would you allow a rortable loophole like this that reduces the only thing the player care about - missing games.
Not saying I disagree but if you didn’t let rep footy count towards suspensions you’d be penalising them twice.

Mate, Manu is a family friend and his medical expenses after his surgery were $31k which the Roosters( not the nrl) insurance covered.
NRL players don't go through the public system.

I heard Luke Lewis on the radio (I can no longer bring myself to say abc) when they were talking about Ryan Papenhuyzen after he had that awful 2nd injury the other night...they had his manager Clinton Shifcofske on explaining the medical process from the time the injury occurred, and Ryan had his ankle op the morning after the game, and Luke Lewis was saying that in his day it was the same - you would always be having any required procedure immediately, there was no waiting. And the radio audience were texting in whining "how come he gets seen to so fast and the rest of us have to wait??"
One can only imagine the insurance premiums and injury associated costs with running a collision sport monolith like the NRL. Of course the players get seen to immediately, ffs.

if not suspended can use those rep game he misses as part of his suspension.
I think it was used for someone who missed an origin game.

Fair point. Let them play rep footy. It's an NRL suspension. Don't intertwine the 2 in any way
