I really admire Billy Smith and I think he could be a top line centre.
He turns 24 in November so has 10 years to look forward to.
He's been in our top squad for 4 years and only played 27 games
15 of those were this year.
I guess if he's been on an average of $120K per year for the last 4 he owes the club a full year at the $160K mentioned,
but if he plays the whole season next year and progresses as he has been he will be worth at least $500K to any club.
I'd love to see him get to 250 games and be a lifetime Rooster,
just something about him and his determination to get past the setbacks he has hadthat make me admire him.

Ideally his manager would like to get the Roosters to match the highest bidder. If he stays and wins a comp with us his value will double anyway.
Still, it's a tough decision to make as NRL players have a shelf life.
