I agree now, but it wasn't when he signed the deal

I really admire Billy Smith and I think he could be a top line centre.
He turns 24 in November so has 10 years to look forward to.
He's been in our top squad for 4 years and only played 27 games
15 of those were this year.
I guess if he's been on an average of $120K per year for the last 4 he owes the club a full year at the $160K mentioned,
but if he plays the whole season next year and progresses as he has been he will be worth at least $500K to any club.
I'd love to see him get to 250 games and be a lifetime Rooster,
just something about him and his determination to get past the setbacks he has hadthat make me admire him.
I agree with everything you said, I rate him highly too. I was just highlighting why one would be asking for a lot more than the other

Swarli gave excellent service and commitment once moved to his rightful position. His efforts can’t be questioned. Still, I’d rather he be shown the door next year as he’s not committed to the club long term.

For sure mate, it was the plasticine reference that irked me when you consider the physicality Billy delivered this year. There probably isn't a more physical centre in the game. He should surely be earning $$ in the top end of the three-quarter market.

Corey Allan has played Origin. I don't think that's a criteria you can use to validate your argument.

Billy played 15 games this year and averaged 120m and >4 tackle busts per game. His defensive stats were better than Manu's, and he had the same number of line breaks. While his past is littered with injury lay-offs, he proved this year that once he got to string some games together he is a strong contributor to the side. The criticism isn't warranted.

He also has a 100% goal kicking record.

Bill Smith is Easts. Sign him up for life.

So being a current SOO player doesn't add value to your contract??? You would make a great player manager

Push the ego aside for a minute. Look at it through Robbo’s perspective and ask yourself - Are our chances of winning a premiership better with Suaalii in the team next season?

Who misses out then? Billy or Young?

100% right. I rate Billy highly and think he will have a huge future, hopefully with us. There’s a reason the brains trust at the Roosters have supported him through so many major injuries; they wouldn’t do it they didn’t believe he was worth it. We are not a charity. I’m glad he’s with us and I wouldn’t blink an eye if he commanded $500k+ a year after his current deal.

All I think is that next year if fit Billy will be left centre & Manu right centre. Who plays wing I dont know but if Toups is one of them then Suaalii or Young will not be a preferedd centre over Billy.
Im telling you next year Teddy, Toups & probably Billy Smith will get injured so Suaalii & Young will get plenty of FG game time if they're not injured themselves.

Young can’t miss out unless he doesn’t perform. Robbo promised him the world so he must deliver.

                          Here are the options

                          Teddy
                          Toops
                          Young
                          Manu
                          Suaslii

Billy Smith plays Reggie’s or moves on during the off season

                          Teddy
                          Toops
                          B Smith
                          Manu
                          Young

Suaalii moves across to RU during the off season

Billy should stay and bide his time albeit playing Reggie’s and for peanuts. Eventually he will lock down the left centre position, make the big bucks and potentially play rep footy.

Moving to a shite club for more money shouldn’t be an option imo.

Your exact words were “has played origin”. Past tense. Don’t blame me if you can’t express yourself properly.
