Yes, shame on Billy for 'disappointing the team' by having his jaw broken by a high shot and missing that last game.
Cause he was getting the ball!!!! Joseph was not too bad in the first 4 rounds but when Walker got dropped the more focus was giving Manu the ball and then towards the end we had no choice but to put him in his best position.

Yeah no doubt the broken jaw was unlucky but what will it be next year? Hamstring, arm etc.... He never starts or finishes a full season and yes it is unlucky for him but even the smallest of injuries he won't play. Joseph S. played every game this year apart from suspension or concussion and really does deserve the first shot there in 2024.

    • Billy Smith will be left centre barring injury.

Suualli is miles behind Billy as a centre. He was really poor when he was given his shot at the start of the year. Offensively & defensively.

He may not of been given great ball, but that could be his own fault too. He was often not running the right lines or his timing was off. And his strength is his yardage carries out of our own end and he just stopped doing these. He should be aiming for 15+ carries a game regardless of if he is playing centre or wing.

Defensively he looked lost and I was sick to death of him leaking tries at centre.

Yes Billy is unfortunately prone to an injury so I’m sure at some stage we will see Suualli back there and I hope he shows some improvement but at full strength, Billy is my pick at left centre.

        • Zach Docker Clay -

Taking out the KOE NSW Cup Most Valuable Player Award for 2023 was Zach Dockar-Clay. ZDC was huge for the Bears this season, he brought solidarity, focus & such unrivalled footy smarts to the team. We are sad to see him go but wish him every success with the Roosters in 2024.

Perhaps JS as an edge backrower? Certainly, big enough! Would be great in attack and not flustered in defence?

Robert Toia will miss a large chunk of the 2024 season recovering from his second ACL (different knee)

No word on Corey Allan or Billy Smith re-signing, nor on Connor Watson either.

More to do with the issues with the halves and spine combo's in not gelling and creating the opportunities for other players as points were certainly hard to come by -

The Roosters were 13th in Tries Scored with 85 - last 5 games of the regular season they scored 26 tries which boosted the end tally - Brisbane 123 and Penrith and Newcastle 121 Tries

Joseph Manu for an example had 12 Try Assists and 13 line breaks in 2022 - In 2023 only 5 Try Assists and 6 line breaks.

Numbers of Tries by the Roosters over the past 6 seasons - Regular Season
            • 2018 - most 104 - Roosters 2nd with 98
            • 2019 - Roosters most with 118
            • 2020 - most 106 - Roosters 4th with 102
            • 2021 - most 151 - Roosters 4th with 122
            • 2022 - most 121 - Roosters 6th with 115
            • 2023 - most 123 - Roosters 13th with 85

The Bears will be looking for a new NSW Cup coach as Jason Taylor is leaving to take on an assistant coaching role at the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in 2024.

Irrelevant now. Maybe you should be discussing this on the Melbourne forum.

He’s tiny. Bondi Boy won’t be happy.

                      I agree.
I can’t see Suaalii playing centre because he’s a better winger or FB plus he won’t be around in 2024.
I can’t see Dom Young playing centre next year unless we are hit by injury.
Smith was the Chooks best centre this year & will be there again next year IMO.
