        Bansai,

I totally agree with you, Perrett is average at best.

Sounds like Perret is polarising the fan base! I'm a big fan of him. His work out of dummy half is second to none and he still has enough to get over the line. He isn't the flashiest winger, but I think he offers the team a lot and suits Smith's tactics.

I don't think he ever let's us down

And if you are going to have young forwards they need help in the heat of battle and his yards provide plenty of this

arona is a cheaper and more consistent version of FPN and jeremey smith. He has the perfect frame and playing style for lock. He can play the tight lock/third-prop role and workhorse in attack and defence but is also an excellent ball player and has great footwork at the line as well as one of the quickest play-the-balls going around. He is very committed and always does all the 1%ers. Now that he has earned the #13, he is starting to really lift his game week by week. I can really see him having an explosive game in the not too distant future where he pens himself in as an integral part of our pack going forward.

He also does a lot more organising around the ruck than he is given credit for if you watch him closely. Im very excited to see him develop and form a strong combination with the rest of our pack. I see our pack going forward as being:
                8. JWH
                9. Friend
                10. Kennedy
                11. Cordner
                12. Maubs
                13. Arona

Going to take a massive shift for Cherro this year and FPN next year to get another contract with all the hot young competition around them for spots

I have a feeling if someone came knocking for Symonds we would allow him to break his contract.

The would've layed it out for Moga, Cordner, Taka, Tasi, Evans, RTS, Guerra but he wouldn't lay it out for Arona. How can we recruit SBW or any player now. Maloney is the only one
If Arona proves me wrong and is the next Corey Parker as lock or Stagg, Hinchcliffe then fine but of he doesn't turn out to be one of them and we picked him over SBW Smith doesn't know his youth good work on resigning our rising stars but hes too optimistic on all of them. Nothying wrong with recruiting enough cap space.
SBW will never come. First we sign salary cap sponges Anasta, Mason, O'Meley and now not signing anyone at all except duds(Riddell, J Carney)
                      Smith is way too optimistic

This is a great re-signing for a number of reasons. Firstly, I think he's a very dependable player who always gives his all and plays well for the most part.

More importantly is that these players who were identified as players who would make way for SBW or JWH top up are staying. We are building a squad and not just a team with revolving doors in positions like we had post-Fittler. In the glory period it took a few years after Freddy & Gus arrived but eventually we had a squad. We were able to bring in unheralded first grade players like Robinson, Lomu, Catic etc... Instead if relying on Jersey Flegg.

The players are wanting to stay with the club but more importantly they want to stay with each other. This can only be a good thing. Bagging out T or this re-signing and comparing him to SBW is missing the point. Do we miss Myles? No! For a little bit more money we have 3 or 4 players to cover his role without leaving a grog bog behind.

It took a while but the vision is falling in to place. We were just a head right Carney away from replicating 2000-2004

                          Provide stats on this please.

I will agree that he was proned to the occassional howler, but doesnt seem to be making those errors any more.

A great clubman who always gives 100% & rarely lets us down. His try on Sunday where he stepped and got thru 3 Newcastle defenders to score was top notch finishing.

It amazes me that so many on here would be happy to let him go.

I'm fairly sure we'll still have a fair bit of cap space even after all these re-signings. Just look at the names we have and are letting go; Carney, Myles, Anasta, Ryles etc. All of them would have been on considerable coin (with maybe the exception of Ryles). There's no way that the playing roster that we'll be fielding at the beginning of next season will put us right at the cap threshold.

I just hope we can spend it on a decent, proven winger with some speed.

Sammy has been a great servant to our club. Respected by all and always gives 100%. BUT, as a test player I'm pretty sure we could find a winger with a longer future at the club ahead and someone with more size and speed to fill his shoes at a cheaper price, just my opinion.
