I think he is still a planned purchase:

- Re-signing our youngsters is a way of re-assuring the fans ahead of the SBW signing i.e. getting Sonny-Bill does not mean losing the players we have developed;
- We need a marquee signing. Maloney is good, but he's not a sponsor catcher. I recall in the days before we signed Freddy, the word from the Roosters' board was that their strategy to get back on top included the signing of "a champion player". I think they're leaving room for one now too.
- When you compare our roster to Canterbury, Souths, Manly and Melbourne, we should have plenty of money to spend under the cap;
- Signing SBW may bring Mouth Mundine into our universe, but it will also attract good players.

P.S. I watched that freakish kid Shek play on the weekend - can you imagine the damage he might do to oppositions in a couple of years waiting for offloads from SBW? It would be Fairfax and Beetson all over again. I'm excited.

If I was a betting man I would say that he is almost certainly still coming. Remember people SBW can also play in the centres.

He is certainly imo much more effective in the forwards.. I am not sure if he is coming simply because of his form but I do believe the club expects he will be here next year.
