Seeing as though the tigers are interested in recruiting a backrower, I was wondering whether they would be interested in doing a trade with T.Symonds. We honestly do not need him (we have 60 backrowers on contract)and his NSW cup form is not lighting the world on fire from all reports.

I know people with throw all of this sentimental crap like, he's a local junior, but honestly it would be a good trade if we can trade him for ayshford, who is also a local junior.

Symonds wouldn't have come cheap when we resigned him and he's about the same chance as getting a start as I am.

I was away for a few weeks but when I got back I read in a thread that it has been a fall from grace for him as he was not even named for Newtown. Sounds pretty bad from that.................

I think his form has been good for the Jets, and he has been captaining the side too..

I like Symonds.

An old school type player. Can hit a hole, bass both sides, defends well etc.

I'm not convinced some of the current first grade squad tick all of those boxes.

I think most of you are mistaken with what I was actually trying to say when I started this thread.

I am not saying that Tommy is a crap player.

Nor am I saying that Ayshford is the best centre we can buy.

But what I am trying to allude to is that we have a bulk of depth in the backrow and very little out
wide if J.Carney leaves next year.

Ayshford is better than Henry, Tupou, Carney. Even if he played in NSW cup for half a year. With injuries he will get his chance much more earlier than Symonds. That is why I think he would be a decent trade.

Tommy has much more versatility than most give him credit for - can play 5/8 (from memory he captained our NYC team at 5/8), centre or in the second row.

And from the reports I get he's been one of the better Jets players, so it's not as if he's not doing his best to push for a spot in the top 17.

I would hesitate before cutting him loose if I were the Chooks, especially as we'd probably have to top up his salary with his new club.
