IMO it's about as much of a joke as Cherry getting to play again after calling his suspension a complete joke and coming back looking like he's so obviously been using throughout his whole suspension.

Can't help thinking that both are explosive centres who cut corners and got busted. One so that he could make it in the NRL (i.e. Cherry woulda been 'just another bloke who almost made it' without the juice) and the other tried to prolong his career.

Both rely on explosive running and what happens when you try lifting too much and pounding your legs too much? You get injured. That's why I don't buy the whole 'just trying to recover from injury a little quicker' excuse.

Jennings at least came clean, STFU and accepted his fate. Also it was kinda sad seeing a struggling ex-Kangaroo in that position (i.e. trying to extend his career after already achieving everything without the juice rather than doing it to give himself a POD over other aspiring youngsters, which most certainly expedited his career).

See how he goes! I always liked MJ as a player. I remember we met near the team bus after a meet and greet... he willingly did photos with my kids and was super nice to us (I'm a bit shy so appreciate it when players are like that - RTS, Cords and SBW were also like that I remember). Footy clearly means a lot to him, so I hope he gets something outta this experience.

Side note - having an MJ is always cool. The other day my son was asking 'why are so many famous people called Michael?' (After he asked me about Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan... he then had a massive list of famous Michaels from today). Anybody with the initials MJ is a legend no matter what the critics say about them!

BX? Reminds me of an old lemon my grandma had. It looked kinda cool and had lotsa unique features, but occasionally it'd just stop and no mechanic would wanna touch it.

Charity imo. The club is trying to help him get his life on track.

However, surely a rising 36 year old who is returning after a 3 year hiatus for steroid use is best suited to park football. I know its just a train and trial contract but what's the point?

        Incidentally where you all been?
        The point is:
He's not played for 3 years, so he's fresh.
He won't be costing much, $1,200pw, and the way our players get injured, could come in very handy come second half of season.
Trent has reportedly stayed in touch with him.
Train and trial apparently can't play firsts until after first 11 games.
NRL yet to approve, but should do, given that Xerri will be playing for the Dogs.

At face value it sounds dumb as hell, but think it is along the BMoz signing... Pay 150K, maybe get 250k of value out of him.

For his GF try alone in 2013 we owe him that.

Also, after a bunch of years off he may have fresher legs than Toops in comparison.

Financially, Chooks have nothing to lose out of this.

Teddy moves like a 46 year old these days.

I have to admit when I first saw this in the paper I couldn’t believe it. At his age I can’t see him playing much NRL unless we have a major injury crisis. Oh….wait…

For a train and trail we could do worse.

Nothing wrong with Teddy, he moves just fine.
He's *like* ScoMo, gets the blame for *everything*.

                      Not Teddy's fault Kangaroos lost.
Kangaroos lost because they never got out of 'lethargic' gear.
They picked Edwards on the wing to face Isaako.
They picked Holmes on the wing to face Mulitano.
Isaako and Mulitano...too big, too strong, too fast.

True. Train and trial is what... $1000 a week or something like that? For that we get a pretty epic centre training with our boys and available for emergency situations. He knows Robbo's systems too.

Very little to lose outta this one. Worst was scenario he fails and retires.

I can't recall seeing a more burned out RL player. Hopefully he freshens up before the season starts! We need him at his best and not taking time off during the season to go to Byron Bay.

                          How's Bondi these days?

I loved AV Jennings in RWB and still marvel at his GF try.

however I did some research on his court case. There were some wild accusations that he was found guilty of. Beating and raping his wife at the time and drug use. She even accused him when he returned from our GF celebrations.
whilst I like giving players second chances I feel awkward about this signing and question is he the calibre of character to be around this club.

                            am I being too harsh?

Its a pretty valid point you make but I dont know what the solution is.

[Pick your favourite MJ... yes, there is ironically a JM in the background of one photo. Unfortunately AJ isnMt sandwiched between MJ and JM but IMO that would make it even cooler]
