As for Terrell May, I recall a stat at the end of the season ..over those dozen games he played at the backend of the season ...he had zero errors in all those games. No missed tackles, no drop balls etc. Thats a pretty good stat to have considering his increased time on the field and high involment in those games.
Yep a star was born at the back end of the season and when our season was on the line. I'd be shattered if we don't retain him!

SST has failed Dogs' fitness test, foot injury needing surgery...so Dogs have walked away.

Sign SST on a train and trial with Roosters?

I'd always welcome SST. Roosters legend. Seems like he is a bit busted nowadays though. We probably haven't seen him at full fitness since 2020.

Wouldn't be the worst pick-up though. Once a Rooster...

I personally think he is gone, they have resigned Va fo 3 more years which tells me they have a big opinion of him.

When is Va eligible for a run in FG?

He's 18 or 19 now and on a development contract (Roosters Academy) isn't he? I dunno the rules but would assume that if the right circumstances are presented, he could play 1sts in 2024 given he's already played NSW Cup?

Edit: difficult to find anything about the NRL rules (their website's seriously poor & should make all rules more accessible in a 'laws of the game' kinda tab). Anyhow round 11 2024 might be the earliest if Fox's 2021 analysis is current / accurate (see https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl...a6967e96d282d9)

NRL.com lists him as being signed until the end of 2026, with 2026 being an NRL contract. My guess is that he'll debut sooner rather than later. Has he been injured or something?

                    https://www.nrl.com/news/2023/01/01/...ates/#Roosters

There's few words on what this means but IMO most likely Nick/Robbo have decided his debut's a matter of 'when'.

Hard to say more without seeing the drafting of the contract but it could well be the case that Va'a has already (quietly) signed a big deal for 2026, with options for the $$$ to be activated early if he ticks all the right boxes.

What's the Roosters Academic? Sounds like he's not just playing NSW Cup, he's part a program designed to expedite his readiness for NRL (i.e. to take the field as a slot-in replacement for Collins, JWH, Leniu or May if called upon in round 11).

I wouldn't be surprised if Whyte is destined to become a prop as well. At 192cm, currently listed as 106kgs and with good leg speed, he could certainly carry another 5kgs of muscle. I think he's a prime candidate for the engine room.

Looking at Va'a's stats for last year, he built into the season very nicely. Coming off the bench initially, he ended up starting prop in his last 3 games of NSW Cup, where he produced these numbers:

                        Ave playing time: 45 min
                        Ave Meters gained: 146
                        Ave PCM: 58
                        Ave Tackle Efficiency: 94%

That's a pretty good effort. He didn't play afer round 19 however, so I assume he copped a reasonably serious injury. Where's his uncle to update us?

Xavier capt Qld U18s a few years ago so probably 20 now.
Baby bro is U18 and both have the world at their feet. Hoping they dodge serious injury because they're from a modest, hard working upbringing and tough to boot.

Looking forward to watching their progression over the next couple of years.

He did his MCL in pre-season but I don’t remember what his injury was in the back end of the year? I have a feeling it was either his knee playing up again or concussion but I just can’t remember…

Know it’s not a like for like, but wonder if they ramp up their pursuit of May now that SST has failed his medical with them.
