  • Bulldogs reportedly leading the race to sign Terrell May

Would absolutely suck to lose May after the way he was playing to end last season also suspect he will be a better player long term than Leniu.

BULLDOGS LEAD RACE FOR ROOSTERS ENFORCER AMID CIRALDO LINKS

The Bulldogs are reportedly leading the race to sign Roosters forward Terrell May, who is close to Cameron Ciraldo form his time at the Panthers.

WWOS reported the Roosters are in danger of losing May, with the Panthers junior in the sights of Ciraldo and the Bulldogs.

May was mentored by Ciraldo, who is a friend of the family early in his career before signing with the Roosters.

The 24-year-old prop has scored one try in 26 games for the Roosters since his debut in 2022, including 17 games last season.

May comes off-contract at the end of 2024, which means clubs have been free to negotiate with him for 2025 and beyond from November 1.

The Roosters are keen to keep May, but will struggled to match the money on offer from NRL rivals, after signing Panthers premiership winner Spencer Leniu on a big money deal.

Surely someone from the media (Buzz) has to write an article about all these players the Dogs are signing.
Do they not have a salary cap?

I will not be able to quantify the disappointment I’d feel if we do not lock him up. One of our best last year, only 24, and has so much more in him. Let go of a bloke hogging our cap like Angus or Nat, and put the money into this kid. We have a wealth of 2RF’s and a lack of good forwards like May.

You'd think with Suaalii leaving next year and moving on JWH ? and possibly Keary, surely we'd have some money around to re-sign May ?

May played like a Payne Haas clone to end the year. He was absolutely unbelievable and should be a priority re-signing.

And Mickie is right. How many players are the Bulldogs going to sign before someone asks cap questions? "Bred not bought", remember that slogan?

Terrell is a weapon and must be retained. Would be negligent of the club to lose him unless there was a reason for it.

This is why re-signing the likes of JWH and Connor Watson was silly. Give someone like Terrell the money. Terrell and Leniu future of the pack. Good mates, long-term success as a 1-2 punch combo.

Reading between the lines it might not just be a money thing for May he had a bit of a frosty relationship with Robbo earlier last season after being dished up some home truths and he has a good relationship with Ciraldo.

Hutchison, Turpin, Farmer Silly, SST and now maybe May............................a lot of ex roosters there.

I also recall their coach saying he wouldn't be poaching any penrith players when he left there.
He's collected a few of them already.

The Dogs recruit with a scatter gun approach and in most occasions they get rid of them just as quick.

We just have to have faith in Nick and Trent will get it sorted.

What's their team? They've lost guys like TPJ, Reynolds, Flanno and Brown. A quick squiz at a movements website suggests they'll have:

                      - JAC
                      - Burton
                      - Steve Crichton
                      - Xerri
                      - Salmon
                      - Curran
                      - (Hutcho, Silly Farmer, Turpin, Taaffee...etc)

TBH I dunno where all the hype's coming from. What are they 1-13?

                      1. Taaffe
                      2. JAC
                      3. Xerri (outta the game for 3-4years with all that time spent on his 'bro bro bro' gym shyte & developing his Burwood accent... OMGGGGG... farkin hec-tiiiik... I sweartagaaaawd I'm gonna smeeesh this [bleeeep])
                      4. Crichton
                      5. Kiraz
                      6. Hutcho
                      7. Burton
                      8. Curran
                      9. Mahoney
                      10. Knight
                      11. Kikau
                      12. Salmon
                      13. Mariner

Pardon my skepticism but IMO that's a pretty shyte squad (though I appreciate that Kikau, Salmon, Crichton and Burton are all ex-Penrith... they've won without most of them and the Doggies haven't been winning with them). Get the suspicions though.

That’s definitely been resolved. Brandon Smith on either his podcast or an interview (can’t remember) said May is like Robbos’s son, he can’t stop talking him up. I hope Jared’s contract, the opportunity to lead a pack alongside Lindsay and Spencer, and the chance at winning titles is enough to keep him put. His career will go to die at Canterbury.

I think I heard him say that on Jam and Cheese? (While also noting that he's staying + enjoying the club).
