Billy Smith or Suaalii to play left centre this year?

So with Daniel Tupou and Dominic Young on the wings and Manu right centre this leaves left centre up for grabs.

I am torn over this but apparently we are paying Suaalii over 700k to play next year, I very much doubt he will be in reserve grade.

At the same time I really rate smith when he is fit.

Also I think our reserve grade will do very well next year.

Last year proved Suaalii is not a centre. He was given ample opportunities.

If we want to start fast and not use our first half of our season "experimenting", then it has to be Smith.

I would say the only 2 people in our back 5 that has 2 hands on their jersey is Teddy and Manu. Toops has one then the other boys are just trying to hold on.
Pre season games will be interesting.

We will undoubtably see both of them playing a fair few games next season given our injury issues of the past. We never roll out 1-17 fully fit.

Who do I want to play left centre? Billy Smith. He is a specialist centre and proved his worth in the backend of last year, finally putting some really strong performances together. Suuaalii is a winger through and through and was completely anonymous in the centres for most of the year. Add in the fact Billy has potential to be a long-term Rooster whilst JS is out of here season after next, from a development POV, Billy makes sense.

Who do I think will play left centre? JS. He is on a stack of cash next season and obviously highly rated at the club. If the club didn't have plans for him then he would've been allowed to walk a year early given he is leaving. He is not staying the extra year so he can play reserve grade. That is just a fact. Given Manu and Teddy are our best player and captain respectively and Toops is a club legend with a mortgage on the jersey, Billy is the one to miss out. Similar to JS, Dom Young didn't come to play reserve grade.

You’d imagine Robbo will pick Sualli’i. Which is a shame as Billy had a cracking season last year. Good problem to have though!

Suaali should not be given a spot in the 17 because he is on $700k, same as critchon - if they are the best for the position yes but not cause they are on a larger contract
suaali got found out in attack and defence last year at centre so it’s a complete no from me
smith did well and will do better with more game time in first grade
I predict toia to push for the jersey come 2025
suaali is a winger only - he’s great at that carrying from the back and aerial leap however does not have the defence or agility and passing game in attack to be a centre atm

Wonder how/if things would work if Manu played left centre and Suaalii right? Some players are really side dominant.
