Love the one that Marty Gurr knocks back the bomb in goal then David Michael cleans up and streaks away and then on to Boustead then Hastings finishes off a pearler of a try.

Also Johnny Peard changing direction and finding Beetson who gets the ball onto Ron Coote and then Mark Harris finishing off, brilliant.

Bill Mullins try against Norths not to shabby either.

Mini's try as the half time siren is sounding against the Dragons is just pure speed and determination.

        (2) 1980 Easts v Wests Final - YouTube

The week after was not a good memory, but this match is. My fave is the Gary Warnecke try celebration ...not quite the standard of a Choc Mundine or Nathan Blacklock, but just as enjoyable !

Bozo Fulton playing 5/8 & Horrie playing centre.
I still remember when Bozo came over to the Chooks, I really liked him.

Yeah Horrie started in the centres and then Artie moved him in to the halves later that season. Bozo was great for us in 77, can remember he scored a runaway try against Manly in a 20 nil win

Was that in the League-a-thon game at the SCG? I was there that day. I think Newtown played the other game with Manfred Moore on one wing.

              Yes, I’m an old bugger.

Yeah I'm an older bugger too mate. I was 10 in 77, dad was washing the car on the Sunday arvo and we listened to it on the radio.

I went to that game with a mate who was a Wests supporter. I had a wonderful day as a 14 year old sitting in the Sheridan stand at my first semi final…….but it all came crashing down the following week.

Yeah remember that game well. What a result! It's funny how the memory works but with some of these games I remember where I was and who I was with. That game had my first ever first grade captain coach in it as well (not that I was to know that at the time). John McLeod was my first top grade coach at Cowra, he was a bit of a nutter and left after the one season

Ah the old League-a-thon. (the 70's version of Magic round) .....Roosters v Manly the highlight game. Can remember Bozo scoring under the posts in front of the Bradman stand, then got up with the finger pointing skyward. Funny thing I can't really remember who played in the preceding game ...records say newtown v cronulla, but can't remember it !

The pass from Beetson to Coote was sublime

I only really remember the Newtown game because of Manfred Moore, and all the fuss surrounding him at the time. From memory he chucked a few balls into the crowd Grid-iron style. I was in my mid-teens and there with my Dad. I distinctly remember that we beat Manly 20-0, but the detail of the game is long gone.

Beetson had the habit of popping up those sublime passes especially during the the 1974- 75 seasons.
Yes i was at the game for Mini's try to, what a rush of adrenaline it was after picking up the Hornby grubber after the half time siren and then the foot race with Gasnier to the try line.
It was a great day to at the Sports Ground watching Hastings finish off the 100 metre try, Easts thrashed Cronulla that day 35-0.

Yes Beetson switched Hasting to half back in round 14 against Penrith. Not sure how many games Fulton played at 5/8 early in the 1977 season but Kevin Stevens ended up playing 5 /8 mid 1977 and Bozo settled into the centres.. Bob Farrugia started as the half back in the 1977 season and was the main goal kicker during that period, Johnny Mayes must have been out injured for the start of the 1977 season, i do recall him playing some games in 1977 but not sure how many, i do remember him scoring a try for Easts against Parramatta that year at the SCG, that was a horror match, Fulton pulled out just before kick off then Ron Coote tripped and injured his ankle on the way out onto the field., despite being under manned Easts were out playing Parra for much of the game but Parra just kept bombing away and wore Easts down.
