  • The membership gear thread

Nick musta cracked the whip or something! My gear got an arrival fate of 27 December yesterday morning and today it got updated to 'ARRIVING TODAY'.

Pretty excited though I know it'll just be the standard stuff. Will aim to attend more games in 2024 as I don't think I even went to any this year (stuff happened - bit of a trip from Canberra and we have heaps of weekend activities).

More to do with Australia Post, we had to "clear the floors" by the end of Friday night, every product that arrived at a facility should have been delivered Friday or this morning.

The pack is very similar to the last few years, only good thing is the hats and beanies actually come with the pack instead of needing to be picked up at the shop/ground.

Did I read somewhere that we are getting rid of Castore as our provider? Geez I hope so, they just churn out the same rubbish every year. I don't think the membership cap has changed in any significant way since they took over

I got mine yesterday. As long as I receive before the first game at Allianz so I’ve got my season pass I’m happy. Some go on about Xmas being ruined if they don’t get their pack on time.

        We’ve got 20,000+ members these days. It’s a process.

The quality of the membership gear has been average for a number of years. With the broadcast rights so high, the club could ask Castore for a higher quality gear.

I'm sure I am like many on here that has a wardrobe or a draw full of keyrings, stickers. They could just offer a card only pack?

AP and their subsidiaries. They pass the buck via subcontracting, more readily than any other former government corporate entity is capable of. This monopoly of carriage service and its disassociation with responsibility is why we are where we are.

Don't Castore just make the jerseys?

Fair point. I gave all my membership gear and collectables (including a signed 2013 jersey) to an ex-player as he lost everything in a natural disaster.

Didn't know he played for us (just some old rambler on Facebook... I was cleaning out the garage so was like 'take it all mate, merry christmas'). Later on he sent me pics of him playing for us and mingling with a heap of big name players. Did a Google and was like 'WTF... well I never!' (One club player & regular starter for more than a decade). Have kept in touch and he's a solid bloke.

Similarly we bought a couple of investment properties from an ex Raiders player (oldschool star for about 3 years who got a career ending injury but is legendary within their club). Wife's stayed in touch and we sold our old house with him as he's always available for a coffee / chat about investing. The places we got from him have gone well too (little gems in good suburbs - he has an eye for niche opportunities).

Tangent (in true Jizzy limoncello spirit) but it's crazy how many ex-players you randomly bump into. A carpeting dude we used (ex Rooster - solid as - got that carpet down nice and tight) said that another ex-Rooster works at North Canberra Hospital as one of those dudes who transports patients around and stuff.
