Nothing against Sam Walker either, kid is the future. Needs a 10yr contract and we should build the side around him. But it takes years to learn how to be a good organising half.

"I really like this squad of players"

Perfectly set up for when Rooster 6 back flips. Just like last season when he was suggesting we sign washed up Brian Kelly from the Gold Coast, and get rid of Billy Smith. Incredible. Then did a mealy mouthed double speak backflip on that too...

Can Keary guide us to a premiership over Penrith?? That could be too much to hope for. We are shaping up as a potential top 4 team imo.

There's no doubting his creative skills and vision however he struggles with a number of critical elements. These need to improve if we're a chance of winning the comp in the near future.

When Sam struggles the team loses confidence and things tend to go pear shaped quite quickly. To Sam's credit, his defence improved at the back end of the season. He's a brave little bugger! He also kept his head and energy levels up when things weren't going to plan against The Storm in our last game.

Sam has so much potential and he's in the perfect environment. I have faith in the kid and hope he has a breakout season.
I don’t know if it’s so much that Sam struggles with it more so than he just doesn’t have enough experience yet. When you hear all the great halves talk about when they finally started to learn how to truly control a game and organise a side it’s well into their careers. It’s why I would’ve hoped we would see more from Keary in this space…

But ultimately I agree, a lot is riding on Sam Walker this year to play well beyond his years.

I can have positive opinions of the squad whilst still having reservations about our ability to succeed.

Don’t limit yourself to such a binary thought process.

Let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

Let's take it one game at a time.

              It's a game of 2 halves.

Hopefully the bounce of the ball will go our way.

It's not over till it's over.

We are training the house down.

*in other words we are as good a chance as any of the other clubs atm* if we stay healthy & suspension free come finals time then we will give it a mighty shake.

With Sam Walker, he was basically rushed into first grade without the proper grounding that other players in NSW receive when they progress through the pathways systems, as they call them: Harold Matts Cup, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, NSW Cup, and then NRL.

For example, Sandon Smith started at the Central Coast Roosters, playing in the regional competitions, Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cup, and then progressed to Harold Matts, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, NSW Cup, and then NRL, the same as Tyler Moriarty, who is yet to play NRL but is in the Top 30 squad.

The NSW Junior system is superior to QLD's one as obviously there is a greater pool of players competing for places in these squads than there is in QLD.

I think winning rd 1 should be the priority.
I remember last year for the Rd 1 game we were playing a brand new side that 99% of people thought were going to come last & that the powerhouse Roosters would win by 50.
Yep we lost & it pretty much went pear shape from there.

Do you think we can beat the Broncos?

With the squad we have we can and “should” be able to beat any team in the comp or have a chance to!
broncos have lost 4 of the 17 from the grand final and two rep players while we have gained young and Leniu and Underachieved for years
Yes we can beat them but who knows how we will start

The Chooks can beat anyone on their day & so can the Broncos.
                          Its a 50/50 for me.
