I mentioned the same back in December when the Chookpen was hypothesising over Keary’s replacement. Long-term Walker would make an excellent eyes-up 6 and Smith is more of the organising type half.

Makes sense. There appears to be less pressure at 6 which would free Walker up to do his thing. The Walker at 6, Keary at 7 experiment failed because Keary lacks organising skills, they both struggle to kick long and at times are defensive liability's. They are too similar Imo. You need a balanced pairing.

I like him & I agree he steers a team around the park pretty good but it will be interesting to see what position he plays this year for the Knights with the addition of Cogger.

Sam Walker will be our 7 for a long time imo, I'd like to see a more robust 5/8 partner him once Keary hangs up the boots. It's tough to have a target for opposition big boppers on both sides of the ruck . I like to see a big bodied 5/8 that is a noted defender to put some balance into our halves.
In saying that I'm more than confident in Keary and Walker getting the job done this year .
