Sad to hear but whatcha gonna do?

Billy Smith extends. We've signed Young long-term for less + that Wallabies winger.

Next rumour - this makes way for us to sign Talyan May on the basis that giving Tyrone a top-30 contract worth ~$200-$300k, thus ensuring the 3 brothers are set for life (without having to deal with shyte clubs and politics) will get the other 2 over the line.

Love Joey but he's not a 5/8 and you can't have 2 outside backs on $1m+ a year. I know Murphy will want a start but Terrell is one of the comp's best props, along with Collins (especially with JWH being the oldest player in the game this year). Look up 'alpha male' in one of those massive Macquarie Dics and you'll see a picture of Collins wrestling May. I'd be picking up that phone to the May brothers right away and saying 'gents, lets talk about that packaged deal...'

Other teams fans are cheering at this news, without realizing that this will free up $850k in the salary cap to go shopping

We have a surplus of right side outside backs this year, and then lose two of them at the end of the year. It doesn't make sense. IMO it is either a bs story, or something else is cooking with Suaalii weasling his way out of union contract, or another big signing to come.

It doesn't sound like Joey is going for the money as surely, we could've offered close enough to keep him. He will be a big loss and just getting into his peak years which is unfortunate.

It does leave us short an x-factor player. But we should have a little extra in the cap to find a replacement or a bit to find Teddy's long term replacement.

Robbo and Nick may get into Suaalii's ear about getting out of his rah rah contract.

I'd be interested to hear who we rate as our X-factor players off other supporters??

But I do agree he will be back, I think in 2026 or 2027, this is just to top up the bank account and helps the club tight salary cap before finishing his playing career here then moving into a coaching role.
He'll get sick of 'ruck it up, kick it out'. As Joey loves to run the ball he also won't like the fact the amount of time the ball is in play in union, is about half of what it is in league. Probably why he left yawnion in the first place.

The Chooks have to re-sign Billy Smith surely
Pauga & Toia are committed to the Chooks so is it time to bring one of them in?
No Suaalii, Manu, JWH, Toups & possibly May & Crighton for 2025, big changing of the guard.
I think it's more because he's not much good

So much for the BS from his manager last year that Joey had no intention of looking anywhere else and a deal with the Roosters was imminent Hopefully he gets released before the season.

You haven't gotten any smarter during the off season Simp.

I’ll wait until the announcement comes from the club or the man himself. As in the past, we don’t lose many players that we really want to keep.
