I really don’t think there is that much money in nz super rugby, it wouldn’t be anymore than he could make in league I wouldn’t think, maybe gets bumped up a fair bit if you are an all black.
hope he goes to France and embraces the incredible rugby environment they have there

Wow never would of thought that would happen, I used to watch a bit of the super rugby, usually on a Friday, and with all the success most of the teams over there have had, the crowds never looked great, does it come down to the weather, pricing? Or is it just the all blacks that bring the crowds?
Small bit of a talent crisis going on, players leave to league early or good young players that stuck with union and dont make the all blacks straight away leave to Europe or Japan as they offer decent money for non internationals .
Also, lack of good competition, Aussie teams are crap, south africans (who provide and take a good chunk of the money) come and go, new teams like Fiji Drua have added a bit of excitement but little unsure on the longevity of it, especially since theyre based out of the same place as the NZ warriors.
Big factor is the rules and over reffing, ruining the game with the amount of penalties and being stop start. There are currently trials going on regarding high tackles being chest height and above and any contact with the head being a red card (even an accidental head clash). World Cup winning coach Steven Hansen said rugby has to be careful here cause rugby league is so much more of an exciting product and have the chance to catch up/over take in the near future.
fingers crossed it happens, domestic league comps are pitiful here and need improving

Will free up a few dollars. Plus with Jarred and Su gone we should have some money to spend.
When I was in Samoa for a holiday, Va'aiga Tuigamala was doing day tours (he'd drive you everywhere around the main island) and it was a great experience. Was gonna recommend that others do the same thing if they're in Samoa but looks like he died at 52 in 2022. Glad I got to meet him before then as IMO it was a larger than life kinda experience to meet an All Black.Last edited by ism22; 03-09-2024, 07:43 AM.

It’s true only way he can play for ABs will be going to a nz super rugby side otherwise take the money with a big Japan or France deal
