For those who missed it; Being reported Joey could only miss 1-1.5 seasons after signing on for Japanese rugby. A return in 2026 looks possible.
Not sure the Jorgensen mail is accurate though. He’s on record saying World Cup and Lions tour are his focus.Last edited by ARD; 03-13-2024, 10:12 PM.

If it’s 1 year he will be back in June 2025 if 2 he will be back June 2026
their season starts in December and finishes May so the chooks could get him for a mid season late charge

Toyota Verblitz is in Aichi too! That's near where I used to live and it's a highly under-rated city. Japan's third largest but IMO it gets way less foreign tourists than other places. As a purely factual statement, Aichi has a place called Inuyama ('dog mountain') that has a really cool monkey park.
Do it Joey and return with $$$! IMO Suaalii's mistake is that he has to play rugby for Australia in order to get the $$$ (in a world where Phil Waugh's saying 'WTF did a broke sport approve this?!?!? FML... and now if we withdraw, we'd have to pay him a massive sum for him to NOT play, while they also take our best young winger using chump change!!!'
Manu would be massive in Japan too as he's the complete package (with... no tats and shyte? Might have a couple of little premiership ones? He looks like a superstar rather than a concrete pourer... apologies to any concrete pourers on here, noting you're probably all more successful than me as it's a $$$ industry).

NRL won't allow him to come back to League in 2025 I assume when under contract for 2025 and 2026.
Who remembers the Steve Roach one when he copped a 4 week suspension and attempted to serve it by signing with an English Side to be able to play in the GF if Balmain made it which they did - 1988 - The League said then you can't sign two contracts.
I assume it will be same scenario even if different codes.

The plan may be one season in Japan to get used to the game and prove himself, then join a NZ franchise with a view to the All Blacks. RTS didn’t last long in the Blacks side, so Joey, as good as he is, is no walk up start for rep duties.

RTS couldn’t find the right position I don’t know if manu could either, no kicking game or quick enough for the back 3 and defence not great at centre,
he could play 13 but plenty of talent there for the ABs allready
