Exactly. The inconsistency is a joke.

There's a big difference between playing for 2 premiership points and a nothing trail game.

Apparently there’s also a big difference between trying to compete for those two points with and without a trial up your sleeve which is why clubs do it.

Clubs must play the trail games. The NRL insists. These games still generate revenue. The low intensity makes them pointless. Manly wrapped their stars in cotton wool. Smart move Imo.

My issue with them is is the unnecessary risk of injury.

Who you play in those trial games is completely up to the clubs… if there was no benefit to trialing then clubs wouldn’t risk their best players.

But then when we lose in Round 1, supporters will complain about Robbo’s poor preparation or lack thereof.

on balance a club that has a hit out or two before round 1 will be better prepared than a club that hasn't had a trial. the only way not having trials would work would be if all the clubs get together and decide not to have them. that way everyone would be in the same boat

It becomes a level playing field if there were no trail games so there should be no excuses about our preparation vs another teams preparation.

Dom Young breaks his neck during a pointless trail game. This effects more than just our season.

Lets see how you feel if Walker or Keary do an ACL.

Tele reporting Dom will now miss the trip and requires some surgery.

                            Poor bugger.

                                You have to have trials.
