That’s illogical, players do their ACL’s in training. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t train.

You have to train, that's a given however you don't have to play these pointless low intensity trail games and risk unnecessary injuries.

      Case in point, Dom Young.

I hate trial games . Our first 12 rounds of each season are trial games . Robbo should run the bears out until round 1

I don't think we should avoid all trials purely because somebody might get hurt.

As a competitive athlete (i.e. one who wants to avoid injuries at all costs), this would be akin to me doing things like skipping hills, trail runs, speed sessions, hot days, marathon dress rehearsals...etc during my training plan. That or me simply not running 110km+ a week because it's too much stress on my beautiful, middle-aged body. If you wanna be competitive then you've gotta train hard and have proper practice for competitions. Doing so protects your body because training makes you stronger.

Yes footy's a contact sport but we do lotsa training that involves heavy contact and non-contact leg injuries are arguably the nastiest things you can get. I'd much rather see Young holding his neck (while standing) after a stupid hit than I would seeing him go to ground, unable to get up due to the old sniper in the grandstand.

IMO not doing trials because people might get injured is like using those crappy wooden knives because somebody might go postal with a metal one. You'll struggle to cut through hot butter and are probably just as likely to die from a staph infection after swallowing a splinter as you are to die from a knife wielding maniac arms with a butter knife at your local cafe. Or... guilt/carbon emissions after using soap suds to wash a metal knife rather than using a 'green' solution.

Sure - it'd be better if some d*ckhead didn't do a stupid crusher tackle on Young. However, some grumb coulda done one 10 minutes into the first game of round 1, leaving us without an outside back for the entire game. Shyte happens.

Giving b jobs is not a sport

There's zero intensity in the trails! The players warm up harder than what they play. They then run out and go through the motions. It's a pointless exercise!!

Atleast the 9's was entertaining and promoted the game.

Reminiscent of Ivan Cleary completely stuffing his hip in a trial after being the highest scorer the year before and him being out the whole year.
