I agree that he is valuable to the side but surely just a 1yr contract like mini's would be enough until tagive rts or moga cement there spots...

However, he has at times turned the momentum of games for us with a line break from our own half.
Please elaborate. I am going a bit cenile but I can't recall the last time he made a break let alone turn the momentum of the game. Please give me a couple of examples. The last I remember was when he outsprinted Balin in 2010. I think I recall another against the Storm but Woolnough may have run him down.

I think some of the comments about Tagive being a long term prospect are premature.

He played, what, a handful of games for the dragons, not spectacular performances and one game for us which was a solid effort. he is certainly on the improve, but enough to displace Perrett, i don't think so.

Tagive's form at the Jets has been up and down. In saying that, Tagive certainly has the potential to be a good replacement for Sam.....just not htis year maybe not next, maybe more 2014/15.

If Tagive wants to stay, great, he will be rewarded, if not, we have plenty of youngsters who want to take the opportunity that will be ready to replace Sam when it is required......its not required now.

We got rid of our three fastest players in Carney/Linnett/Graham and we now have the slowest backline in the comp. This is something that needs to be addressed before we can become a premiership threat.

IMO Tagive has already made a huge difference. The opposition are hanging back in expectation of a kick behind the line for Tagive, and no coincidence BJ looks a star as a result of the extra room to move.

Dice, Anyone looks a star when you have room to move, there is a reason why braith whinged about the play going to pearce and the right hand side too much, that right hand side is a more potent attacking side than the left. I guess that shows what happens when you have a half that gives the players good clean early ball, 2010 is another example.

So there we have it, get rid of anasta, get a good ball playing 5/8 to partner Pearce and our backs, all 5 of them, will look like world beaters !

BTW, i don't think we have the fastest back line, but no means do we have the slowest.

I have heard that many times but nobody can name me a slower backline because there are none.

Well, the only way you will actually find if a back line is faster than another is to put them in a match race...........other than that, it is all opinion.

I just find it funny that when we don't see 50 to 100 mtr line breaks every week, by our guys, or they cannot catch a player, they are considered the slowest in the game.

our boys can streak away from defence, and catch attacking players like every other team, they can also miss them too. Thats just football.

Some of us were calling for speedier backs even back in 2010. Even then it was obvious our attack was being stifled, and Carney on many occasions seeing the opportunity to kick behind the line but deciding against it. When BJ replaced Graham on the wing our attack suffered even more with the opposition compressing their defense knowing full well BJ was too slow to run around them.

So whats the issue then? one player or the whole back line? Will a change of one player make the back line faster?

I am saying collectively our backline is too slow. Obviously every quicker player that gets introduced partially resolves the speed issue.

I am not convinced that Tagive or Moga is the answer, but it is a hell of a lot better than having BJ as first choice winger.
