Some info in the thread Gman mentioned. Its about targetting young talent and taking a holistic approach with their development into Roosters players and as people. Was happening for some time informally anyway with guys like Boyd Cordner brought in early and progressed through to the elite level. They then formalised the Academy inspired by what Barcelona FC had done. They have some great Easts leaders and mentors along the way like Maubs, Friend, Mini and Cords. This pathway takes them to our lower grades, the development program side of it can start as young as 13.

Its a great scene for us. To have a club that has crafted a development system that allows us to compete with huge catchment areas and whole states of other clubs is an incredible story in Oz sport.

Seen some fruits of it in last nights game. Attached a vid from last year which explains a bit about it including Nicks thoughts.

Along with the above Academy they also have the following

• Central Coast Roosters academy - Male and Female players
• New Zealand Tri-Colours Academy - Male and Female players
• Partnership and Pathways agreement with Ipswich Jets
• Partnership and Pathways agreement with Kaiviti Silktails
• Partnership and Pathways agreement with Glebe Dirty Reds

The Roosters have a host of people working as development/recruitment officers scouring NSW/QLD/New Zealand for the best junior talent.

Meli Nasau who played in the pre-season trial against Souths was signed from the Silktails to a Roosters NSW Cup Contract.

Thanks mate. Brother #3 Aloysius... 15yrs & catching the other 2 in height... leaner build, prefers edge but plays a lot of middle. Currently signed to the Roosters development pathway for u16s whilst living in QLD ...& hoping to play HM next year.

The future looks bright with our development system. The entire team played well collectively and had an upbeat energy about them.

Very impressed with our back row stocks and depth. Most of those lads could step up and cover our first grade positions if/when required.


$3 million war chest is apparently what we will have over the next 12-24 months but from a first impression, we should look to build and develop before going out to the market in the near future.

For sure - look down first before you look sideways to fill vacancies. Especially with the great development systems we have in place.
