Guessing it is regarding the losses of JWH, Angus, Manu, and Suallii, which probably adds up close to 3 million.

True but I think, based on management's ideology, they will reinvest in our up and comers at a base price and develop them into future stars.
That way, every so often we can 'poach' a big name star to bolster our squad and help nurture the younger squad members.

There’s nothing NRL clubs fear more than the Sydney Roosters’ cheque book when they have millions of dollars of space in their salary cap.

The departures of Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Joey Manu, Angus Crichton, Daniel Tupou and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves at the end of the season leaves Nick Politis and Trent Robinson with a dangerous $3 million war chest.

The following year they have another $900,000 from Luke Keary’s expected retirement.

This is a club with such an impressive record of landing some of the game’s all-time greats when they really want them – Brad Fittler (Penrith), James Tedesco (Wests Tigers), Luke Keary (Souths) and Cooper Cronk (Storm).

Even as far back as league immortals Arthur Beetson from Balmain and Bob Fulton from Manly in the 1970s.

The Roosters have already signed Wallabies back Mark Nawaqanitawase for 2025. But there is a stack of money left.

Politis was tight-lipped when we spoke to him about the club’s future recruitment plans from Los Angeles, where he is in camp with the Roosters preparing for Las Vegas.

“We have a lot of very impressive kids coming through,” he said.

“We’ll sit down with Robbo at the appropriate time and see who is available.”

One of the “impressive kids” Politis talks about is rookie Robert Toia, rated by many as the most talented emerging centre in the game. He’ll get a shot next to Billy Smith in the centres.

But who are the big names likely to be on their hit list?

No doubt the Roosters will have a crack at rugby union star Max Jorgensen — a fullback off contract this year with the NSW Waratahs and Wallabies.

          He is a future superstar.

They will be looking at all the best players available.

The likes of Zac Lomax, once rated an Origin player, is under contract at St George-Illawarra but unhappy about being shunted to the wing.

Even Broncos excitement machine Selwyn Cobbo. He has two years to go in Brisbane, but these days contracts mean little in rugby league.

Aukuso Suaalii and Manu have both indicated their rugby union stints will be short term.

That they’ll be back one day.

Not that the Sydney Roosters can sit around waiting.

          Look out rival clubs!
          FLYING THE COOP

Angus Crichton: In discussions about potential switch to rugby.

Brandon Smith: Has a player option in his favour to active 2025.

Daniel Tupou: Another Roosters veteran who is yet to decide if he will play on next year. On a year-to-year basis.

Joey Manu: Still yet to ink a deal with rugby but all signs point to him exiting the club at least in the short-term.

          Joseph Suaalii: Rugby-bound next year.

Luke Keary: Has re-signed for a further 12 month despite the deal yet to be officially announced.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves: Won’t be in the NRL next year. If he plays on, will be in the Super League.

Terrell May: Still locked in talks with the Roosters and still weighing up if he should head to the open market.

            All speculation from Rothfield.

Did say in his scoop this weekend though that it’s expected Terrell May will re-sign once he’s back from the US.

The only roosters related media stories with any true journalistic merit over the past 2 years were not written by the usual hacks but by women investigative style journalists.
Namely, the insightful interview with Politis ( can’t recall her name) and the recent background article on our development system written by Fatima ….

Think how cheap it is to produce that piece from Buzz for the paper and the website. It's just gossipy made up speculation that requires no research, no analysis, no interviews, no travel and no additional costs. Just Buzz sitting at his desk (at home) writing it. Because the paper makes very little money from advertising anymore, this is the only drivel they can afford to publish. And so less people read it, and then they make even less from advertising, and so it goes on. In 3 years the paper wont exist.

Then Foxsports also newscorp has a story where they quote Buzz's article, like it's news they're reporting...it's hilarious

I reckon the Chooks could be interested in Cobbo.
                      He’s top quality.

Dear god, they have to go back to the 70s to name drop Beetson and Fulton.

                          Talk about desperate.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Rotfield and the Telecrap...making up dribble day after day...that's why i haven't brought the paper in like over 20yrs.

                            Nothing but pure speculation here

Keary $900,000 now? Pretty sure he claimed $800,000 or $750,000 before..

Angus Crichton definitely gone now? Few weeks ago said that Crichton COULD go...COULD SHOULD WOULD
Same for Toops? Has he decided? No..
Even Joey Manu haven't officially left although it ain't looking promising.

Rotfield still bitter we put his Sharks out last yr.
